| matttmob wrote: | Hey Guys I found a much easier way to set the file as a ring tone. This requires no file changing or moving simply follow the steps below:
Menu
Settings
Sound Settings
incomming call
Ring Tone
(scroll to the ring tone you want that is a full MP3)
Hit Select (the Red dot that would normally come up showing the file is selected will not display)
hit back
hit save button
go back into incloming call and MP3 will be saved.
I actually found this by accident but it does work.
It will also use a ful size MP3 file. Good Luck!! |
When I hit back, it goes back to the incoming call menu and starts playing the file that was previously selected (an annoying ring tone it came with). So, it doesn't appear to work for me. Is my file size too big? the file I'm trying to play is 3800 KB. Also, If I do rename it as a 3pg, I cannot manage to send it to where I can actuall select it as a ring tone. Any Ideas?

Alright. Here's all of the things I've done. I've cut songs into smaller bits thinking that I could go to the incoming call menu and cheat it like previously suggested, that didn't work, it would just go back to the old annoying ring tone. I've changed the file names to 3pg's, but when I put them on the phone, I try to move them but then I cannot get them into a folder where it actually gives me the option to set as ring tone. I also have different menus for the memory card. One is option 6 on the file manager and there's one each for the other options (sounds, etc.). The one by itself under file manager is the only one with anything in it. I don't understand why the other "memory card" options are empty. But that might not have anything to do with anything.
I don't know what else I can possibly do. I've moved or copied the file to everywhere I can on the phone and the only place that has the option to set as a ringer is "My Music" and I can't get the 3pg files in there. Please help!!!

Using your software that comes with you t809, you should be able to transfer the 3gp to the folder name other files. After that, you have to move that file to your memory card/folder my music. After that, move the 3gp from you memory card/my music to you phone folder named my music or music. It worked for me. It took me a lot of try outs to figured it out. Let me know if this was useful for you!

i don't even use the software when i change the mp3 to 3gp. Those instructions are for your pc folder that has the mp3s. All my folders are set to see all extensions.. like .mp3 .doc .xls and so on for any file. Just change the extension
then with the software highlight the ones u want from the folder on ur pc (bottom left hand window) to "other files" on ur phone (top left window)
once that is done go to ur "other files" on ur phone and click the files u just uploaded and move them to memory, it should let u pic a destination for them, i just choose music, then u will have the option to use them as ring tone, caller ring tones or alarm.
Dont' be surprized if it asked u to move to phone to use it, just choose yes
Hope that helped!

That is not to change it from mp3 to 3gp. Is to transfer it from your computer to your phone. However, either way, it should work as a ringtone.

Ok, I have the Samsung sgh-t809 and I have tried the method of picking the song as the ringer in settings and it worked.
However, I used BearShare to download music. On a lot of songs, the file online shows that it is MP3, and when I download it and play/sync it on windows media player it also shows that it is a .mp3 file. Once I sync it to my phone there is a 'X' by the song title instead of music notes. Then when I click properties it shows that it is WMA file and it will not even play.
I have tried renaming the file name in Media Player to .3gp but I have had no luck with it. It just shows that the name of the song has changed not the actual format. Can anybody please help me resolve these issues?

U should read what was posted previous, it explains how exactly to fix it. In short, before u upload to ur phone, change the format from .mp3 to .3gp, u will probably only be able to uplaod to the "other files" folder but from there u should be able to send it to "my music, sounds" or where ever u want and use it for what ever u want
