if you want to send it to your phone go to:
settings >phone settings> USB settings.
if you want it sent to the phone's memory then make sure the usb setting is set to Modem.
if you want it sent to your memory card make sure it is set to Mass storage.
so in conclusion set it at mass storage, send your 3gp to other files folder on the card, then go into the cards memory and go to other files folder and open it, you should find the 3gp file in there and you can go to that file's options and should be able to send to phone. once you send to phone you can go into your phone book and set it as someones ringtone.

I currently have a T509 and hate the ring tone volume, and I am "that" far away from returning the phone and getting a T809. How loud does it ring?? My T509 I cannot hear it ring in my truck, and vibrate is really weak too. My Razor vibrated off the table!!! It the T809 any better than the T509?

the vibrate is kidna weak.
the ring tone is a gradual ring. it goes from low volume to high volume. and there is no way to shut it off. i think the ring volume could be louder but it is better than my previous phone. I have only missed one or two calls due not being able to hear it and where i was was pretty loud.

alrighty then, my T509 is on it's way back to TMobile since I ordered it online. I am gonna go into my local store and see if they will hook me up with the T809 today even tho T-Mobile hasn't gotten my other phone back yet. I think they should be able to do something. I renewed my contract, just want to switch phones, and it has not even been a full week yet. The girl in the T-Mobile store had a T809 and she let me check it out. Seems pretty nice. She said she had close to 95 songs loaded in it!! That's more than I will need. Ringtones is more important to me than full songs!

that way works PERFECT! Do not change it to 3gp. Just do it the above way. and it works!
Setting>Sound Settings>Incoming Call>Ring Tone>
Choose a ringtone that came with your phone that is in MP3 format. Hit the back button then hit the left top button it should be save. Now go back into choose a ringtone hit the middle button on the mp3 you want (it wont check it) hit back and hit save! Check the ring tone and its the one you want!

all you have to do is use the USB cable supplied with your phone, and drag and drop the file onto the memory card's other files folder.
unplug the usb, go to the file manager for the memory card, go into other files and go to the options to send to phone. it should work it, works for me. then from there it should be in your music folder on your phone's memory.

FI-NA-LLY!
I took a day...a few breaks....and figured it out......
the tutorials you all gave were so helpful, but the key was that I was not realizing when you were speaking of the file manager and the software I didn't connect the two. It was the Manage Files ON the software! *derr*
Now my boyfriend and I are going crazy playing with this since we both have the same phone! Even though it seems like a lot of steps, going here and there....it really doesn't take that long. Thank you again so much- this phone rawks!
