It just sounds like you did not switch the t809 over into modem mode isntead of mass storage mode under the usb settings for the phone itself. Once you do that it should work.

I am having the same problem. I have already switched to modem mode and still I am unable to sync to my computer. I have already tried samsung.com and calling Samsungs tech support and they gave me the run around. Please help.

It may seem some what obvious, but you will have to install all the drivers that came with the phone. There is a mass storage driver that XP already has loaded, but the driver used in order to sync must be added later.

1_____Synch Issues___________________________________________
The software for this phone is buggy. I had to go to Samsung's web site to find that I had to change the communication method to modem, then I had to instal the other dirver that came w/ the installation disk. It took several tries including un-installing and re-installing the software before I could port my phone's phone book to my PC. When the software "Samsung PC Studio" opens, "Synchroize" is greyed out. You can't synch your phone book to Microsoft's Outlook. I called Samsung and found this is a comon complaint. I can see my phone book but I can not edit any fields. As you do more research on this phone you will find others having the same problem. Samsung has not offered any work around, neither has T-Mobile who transfered me though 4 departments before telling me to call Samsung.
2_____Blue Tooth Issues________________________________________
My phone worked for 2 days w/ my Motorla Blue Tooth H500. I took the phone back to T-Mobile and they confirmed my phone's blue tooth communication had stopped. They gave me another phone and 1 week latter it quite again. I took the phone back and the T-Mobile store confirmed the phone's blue tooth was not working. When it did work, for 1 or 2 days, people had trouble hearing me unless I moved the phone close to my blue tooth head set. While it worked I bought Motorola's H700 and had the same issues.
I bought 2 of these phones and I'm returning both of them. If all you want to do is make calls, it works fine. But if you want to synch the phone to your PC and backup your phone book and or edit your contacts, forget it. Is it possible I got 2 lemons in a row...maybe.

The trouble may not be with your cell phone's bluetooth; it may be with your headset. I had the same problem and contacted Samsung. They, by the way, were quite helpful. They told me that bluetooth headset batteries only hold a couple of hours of charge, and I have to charge it daily. Once I got a full charge in my headset, it worked fine. You may be experiencing the same problem. It may not be the phone but the headset.
As for synchronization between the phone and the pc, mine is set at modem, and I use a usb cable for the connection, and when I open Samsung PC Studio, "Synchronization" is blanked out. However; to get any file back and forth between the T809 and the PC, I use "File Manager" with no problems. That goes for data, music, and images.

I got this phone yesterday and had the exact same problem. Turns out it was the USB cable itself. I was getting frustrated and started just sliding the phone open and closed when I noticed I got those Windows "USB device connected" sounds. At this point I got confused. So I finally got it to connect, then all of the sudden I lost connectivity in the middle of a song transfer, which is REALLY frustrating because it's REALLY slow. Anyway, after more investigation, I found that the cable itself was faulty. I found that if I crinked the cable near the end that connects to the phone, I get connectivity. The only annoying thing about this is that file transfers are slow as I mentioned, so I had to sit there physically crinking the cable while my files slowly transferred. I'm going to go back to my store and get my cable exchanged, hopefully they have a computer there where I can test the cable on the phone before I leave. One way I could tell it was a USB cable problem is that when you don't have connectivity, your phone won't charge. When I did have connectivity, my phone charged from the USB port. Mess around with your cable and see if you get it to work this way as well, you might also want to try different ports. The cable was causing shorts in my monitor's USB hub because another device I had connected to the hub wouldn't connect when I had the Samsung cable connected, until of course I found the crink trick worked... sorry for the long winded post, good luck.
