I made the change to Cingular from AT&T 30 days ago with no problems until this past Thursday morning when I found that all conversations from my home were totally garbled... including voicemail. I have a Motorola V3 Razor and it works fine when I am away from my home but can not have an understandable conversation in a .5 mile radius of my house. I have 4 to 5 bars on my phone and never had any problems from home before. Customer service says it is a network problem but this does little to help me short term as I work from my home a great deal. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with anything like this?

It sounds like it's due to the integration in your area? Where is that? I would go into a local store and get their help, as they deal with the area more intimately than a call center rep a few hundred miles away... don't get me wrong, they are helpful, but the store may have information in regards to the integration of old att towers.

I drive i20/i30, from west texas to dallas and i have noticed that my reception in certain spots have dropped off really bad in spots where it used to be really good, example is in downtown ft worth. so it may be more than we think.

it could have been towers that were taken out of commission, or towers that are down for upgrades (dallas is undergoing 3g upgrades) check with your local stores, they will have the most knowledge about whats up with towers.

I have Cingular GSM here in Los Angeles. About 8 or 10 months ago, we had a dead spot. The tower closest our home showed FULL STRENGTH on the phone, but no calls could get in or out-- or sometimes, just a word then cutoff. Cingular admitted that that local site was out of order, but the rep could not deactivate it-- therefore, the phones nearby always homed-in on the bogus signal! After about a month, they got it fixed. Sounds like the same problem. Keep after the tech support people and with some luck, the message might get through to the proper hands.

oops- just reralized that was subject line, and it wont let me cut and paste. Our phones tellus that we are connected to the other party, but they cant hear us and we can't hear them. Cingular keeps telling me they are working on the issue. I'm giving them until friday, or I am out and going to verizon or something.[/code]

I have Cingular and the coverage is great. I do know they are improving their system and, especially in Louisiana, it can be annoying. I live in Shreveport and have called and talked to the customer service people. They are okay but the technical support guy really helped me more. I see their trucks all the time so they must be doing something...
