I was trying to do the same thing and did some checking with Cingular (my service provider). Following is what they have about wireless faxing at their support site:
ADVISORY:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: CSD is no longer offered. Cingular Wireless will support existing CSD users, but will NOT provision any new subscriptions.
FIX:
What is CSD?
CSD is a switching system that establishes a dedicated physical communications connection between end points through the network for the duration of the communication session using GSM voice channels for passing data.
Activation and Support:
Consumer line CSD service is no longer being offered as of December 2005. However, support is still offered for grandfathered customers. Please contact Cingular Customer Care for technical support.
Enterprise / Public Safety CSD activation and support is offered through the company's account team. Please contact your account team for support.

I hope this helps. --- ame[/b]

i have tried to setup the fax using the Motorola V3 razor connected to the laptop at first it just rang three times and then it drops the call i used everything like winfax Microsoft fax but at the end i used phone tool expert from brvp
1) if your connection drops after three ring you need to change the sim card to a Vodaphone sim card
2) After that you will need to install to moto cd which came with the phone then set that to Gsm connection and leave it set to Gsm so you can send data.
3) Start the phone tool expert and config the modem so you see it in the software.
Now start send faxing using your Motorola v3 razor which is connected to the laptop using the usb data lead not forgetting to top your pay as you go sim card up
Hope this helps everyone because it took me 6 hr working this out

I just got off the phone wiht Cinigular. tech supt. told me CSD is no longer used with their GSM service. Today's equivilant would be to activate what they call a tethering plan. This allows you to use your cell phone as a modem when attached to your computer.
The rates quoted to me were $75ish for unlimited and $20 for 5MB of data.
I think this would let you fax, not worth it to me at this point but that seems to be how to do it.

Spoke with an ATT rep today. She wrote, "I do apologize the Motorola Razor can not be used a a way to send fax. The only thing we support use on the blue tooth for is to pair up with blue tooth headset.
I then asked about using a cable and was told, "Donna Runyon: We do not support fax with any connection on our phones."
That takes care of AT&T. I don't know about the rest. I'm having the same problem and haven't found an answer. Sorry.

Windows Fax in Vista will not work with a cell phone because it is designed to transmit the fax as an analog signal on a digital phone. While it is true computers are constantly converting analog to digital and back to analog but its not going to help in this situation. Cell phones use a digital signal and there is no conversion back to analog which the receiving fax needs. We could blame it on telephone companies that still use analog signals to communicate. The FCC has forced the TV industry to convert, now how about the phone industry? I know it would be nice to simple plug that USB cable in and fax with your cell phone in Vista but then again nothing is as easy as it should be.
