I just got the same phone and cingular acct.
I called cingular and was told flat out "No, we do not aid in unlocking phones".
I told them it would weigh heavily on whether I stay with them, since T-Mobile does unlock phones for their active customers.
I believe that each S.E. phone has a unique code that is registered with the IMEI number.
Someone can correct me if that's not the case.
I will either cancell cingular or find the unlock codes without cingular's help.

For unlock the Z520a, you'll either buy a software program or pay someone to unlock it for you ..
if you already got the code , then you'll just enter it into the phone without connecting to the cables
@vancraft :
Yes, every IMEI numbers store the unlock code, but only there original carrier or manufactory knew the code
Cingular and T-Mobile will give the unlock code to a qualify customer's
1. Post Pay Plan Customer's ( NOT Pre-Paid)
2. Have at least 90 days of there service
if you just got your phone couple days , forget it they wont give it to you !!

Try -edited-, you can buy the actual software and then after that you can do whatever you want - unlocking, flashing, etc.

only if your a cingular customer and you are traveling over the seas here is how you can make your phone work. turn off your phone get the sim card out, turn your phone back on. When its going to say insert smartcard this is what you do:
- press left arrow once
- press star twice
- press left arrow once
then it should say network just press ok, and when your promoted to enter the code you enter
6769679553163173
it worked for me and im going to moscow next week

dzimadliniy. how did you get that unlock code? I think the code is different for each phone. At any rate, the code you posted didn't work in my phone. It just said "Wrong code".
Good info on how to get to the point where you enter the code, though!
