Hi,
Recently, I have seen the Moto Razr advertised on TV for $100 at Cingular. My contract ends in February, but the commercial said that the $100 offer ends on December 31. Well, I REALLY want the Razr, but I'm not going to pay $200 for it when the price goes up after December 31. I wanted to know if you can renew your contract BEFORE your actual contract expiration date AND be able to buy phones at the price that you would get if you waited until the contract expiration date.

it's usually 3 months out from the contract. call customer care and see what you are eligible for.

I just learned this today and was quite surprised. I was with AT&T for a long time, and was always able to get a new phone after 1 year of a 2-year contract by simply extending my contract. I'm so disappointed that Cingular says I'm not "eligible" to "upgrade" my phone for 9 more months!
Does Cingular ever make exceptions to this?
Or are my only options to (A) pay full retail for a new phone, or (B) try my luck on eBay?

it depends. if you're still on a "ATTW" plan then you can call customer care and the razr is 99.99 with a 50.00 mail in rebate. there is not contract term for former ATTW custoemrs to switch to cingular. if you have already made the switch to cingular, then you have to wait until the 3 month period to get discounted upgrades.

I finally got a reply to my inquiry to Cingular on this issue. They will sell me a phone at the one-year contract pricing if I re-sign for 2 years, or I can buy at retail price and not extend the contract. Don't know how good a deal the first option is since their website doesn't show 1-year pricing.
