I read the solution by cableguy, but, again, this is a windows based solution. I am using a Mac, and was told by the lovely salesperson that I could use mp3's from ITunes on a Mac. It does not work. The mp3's look ok on the card, but when I insert the card into the phone, each mp3 is duplicated, with "._" before the duplicate, and these will not play, and the player hangs up when it gets to one of these. Ditto problem with VCast music, since it requires Windows Media Player 10.0. Is there any solution regarding Mac. I have looked at purchasing Virtual PC 7.0, but have heard many arguements against it. Besides, since I was told by Verizon that it would work, maybe they should pay for it. Thanks for any thoughts.

When files are copied from a Mac to a Wintel-friendly environment (e.g., a mini SD card read by an LG VX9800 phone) the resource fork of the file becomes visible: the "._" signifies the resource fork. These can be deleted without any consequence. The data fork of the file is what you need to keep; that is the "copy" of the file without the "._" in front of the file name.

I guess that you mentioned that for the Mac. I don't own a Mac; I own a PC (Win XP Home). Does your comment apply to Win XP? What do you mean by "._"? "Resource fork"? I guess I'm probably confused, anyway.

This is how i do it,
first format ur memory card,
go to systems,
manage memory.
select card memory,
select options....select format ,
download music to real player 10,
once i've done that i export them to the windows media player....
it automatically converts them.
select the ones u want to send to ur phone in the sync list....
in your phone go to tunes&tones,
plug in ur usb and make sure the media player see it...may take a couple of seconds.
then press, sync music press ok...should see phone say syncronizing....u can actually see the files converting and it will ony do one at a time.
I use windows xp

Yea this happened to me too... Verizon has MP3's turned off in the settings for some reason... Press Menu, then 000000 then, option number 12 music settings, it will be on MOD only put it on MP3 & MOD.. Then exit and go into my MP3's at the normal menu and BAM there they are... Seems like they want people to BUY Vcast music ... Sounds like something Verizon would do

Thanks! I was able to get the my MP3s folder on the phone but when I enter it the phones tells me I have no MP3s in memory. I do have some MP3s with long names. Do you think that may be the problem? Thanks
