Hi everyone! Well, here are the details: I'm a 20 year old who has never had a cellphone in his life. Lately I've been thinking a lot about getting one and been looking at different plans but one thing I've noticed is that, obviously, all cell phone providers run a credit check before they approve you. My problem is this; I've never had a credit card so I don't have any credit.
However, I DO have a savings account, a checking account, and a debit card. I've also recently started a new job, if that helps with anything. Should this be enough to get approved for a phone plan? Or should I just wait?
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out! And sorry in advance if this topic doesn't go in this forum.

you'll mostlikely have to pay a deposit.

does your debit card have a VISA or mastercard logo?... if so it is the same as a credit card... but you can only use the funds you have in your account... normally the online order systems are a little less stringent for deposits...if a deposit is required you will know privately instead of publicly in a store

as far as i know, all debit cards in the states are controlled by a major credit card company.
I've only been told this, and canada is not, so if anyone could confirm this, it would be cool.

USA cards are tricky...
basically if you only have a savings account you have a bank card same as canada
its a chequing account that have the VISA or Mastercard logo...

another option that you have is getting a cingular go phone account where they just automatically take the funds out of you checking account when you bill is due and it requires no deposit, or try t-mobile they have a thing called smart acess that depending on your credit may require little or no deposit based on you credit and they just disconect your service if your account balance ever reaches $150 ( but it never should anyway huh? ) but try those two.
