I have read several of the forum threads but none of them seem to help me. I recently purchased a Motorola L6 on eBay and was interested in transferring some mp3 ringtones and backgrounds to my phone. I downloaded MPT v.3.0 and connected my phone, but that clock just keeps spinning and never finds my phone. I know other people have had similar problems, but I just cant get this figured out. Please help!

You need to use the live updat funtion to get the latest version of MPT that will have the correct driver to support yout fone. VBersion3.28 and there is a beta test version 4.0

Old_Fool: Just so you know MPT is now at Version 4.04 (I updated to it the other day)
jon_falcon: Old fool is right, you need the latest version because version 3 doesn't support the L6 as it wasn't released at the time MPT v3 was.

Quick note: MPT 4.x and later will no longer support win98.
IMHO I think the issues people are having are mostly related to the fact that windows recognizes the phone as a phone but the driver you need to install is for a modem so windows gives you a hard time. The only instances I have been able to connect my v551j is when it is detected as a "composite device" rathter than a phone, then the driver seems to install and MPT finds it on com3. I have no idea why it is detected as a different device by windows, I have not been able to control the detection process at all, so I just keep trying until it works, what a ridiculous situation! If I had to pay for this software(MPT came with my data cable) I would be so freakin' pissed off right now... but the software seems to work just fine for me. Once the phone is connected everything works as it should. Without a reliable driver, the software, and the cable for that matter are useless.
If you Persist, you will eventually be satisfied.
... oh yeah, my point was that MPT will no longer support win98.

I had to purchase MPT Deluxe for $29 and it works great...it's only version 3.1.1 and think there was a driver tool to DL as well....now I connect first time every time. I agree it is a driver issue with the windows USB Modem driver that once you get it resolved the MPT will work fine.

MPT has it's own set of drivers, tell it to search for the folder where MPT was installed. There should be a driver folder in there.
