Phone Model: Motorola Razor

I had AT&T service up until yesterday when my phone broke and I went in to the Cingular store to get a new one. They told me that I had to upgrate to Cingular... fine what ever.
I've upgraded to Cingular and I am unable to receive text messages! I can send them but I cannot receive them. I've called customer service and they said they could not see that anything was wrong. I went back to the store to get a new phone and new sim card and still -- no text messages.
Any suggestions?

Which phone is it? Qhen you try texting to your new phone, are you including the 1 + area code?

It is rather strange -- I am able to send text messages. The people that I send them to "reply" back and I do not ever receive them. I have received a couple from other folks who are on the cincular network but not all. I've had friends who have Verizon and Sprint text message me and still... they do not get to me. Thoughts?

I am having the same exact problem: Ever since I switched carriers from AT&T to Cingular (to get a lower rate plan and a new phone), I haven't been able to receive text messages, except of course from the Cingular reps troubleshooting the issue! They are finally escalating it after a week of my complaining! I'll follow up and post any resolution, if any.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. I have actually taken all the way to networking and they claim I do not have a problem and should recieve texts with no problems. I joined this forum to try to find an answer

I would just take the phone into the store to have them double check the settings because it doesn't take much to get them screwed up. Sometimes, that's all it is. And you definitely need to be using the area code along with the number when sending.

I also can't receive text messages from verizon. I have tried 3 different people to send me messages and I dont receive them. I have a Razor V3. I was able to receieve until about 2 weeks ago. Cingular is blaming verizon for it.

That's great. I have the same problem. razor v3. I just signed with cingular and I can send messages to my friend internationally but when they send to me I don't get them. I have had them sent to my brothers phone who is on cingular but a formerly ATT and he gets them just fine.
What is the deal. I have talked to cs and they say the problem in on the other end.
