I bought this cable off of Ebay this last week to unlock my phone, but the connector is to big for my phone. I have a E316, I read the forums and people said that the serial cable model no. PCB093LBE will work with this phone model. Is there two kinds of the this cable? Im actually really confused with this. This is the cable i bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5846143199&rd=1&ssp agename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 Someone please tell me if i bought the wrong cable for my phone, and what serial data cable i should buy. I thought that all the samsung cable where the same. I also need an unlocked firmware if anybody could point me towards one. Thank you in advance for your help.

According to the picture, it looks like the right cable and PCB093LBE IS the right model.
What do you mean unlocked firmware? SIM restriction type unlocked or "Phone Locked" type unlocked?
This is stupid and I hope I'm just going to look stupid for asking this, but you didn't plug in the serial end of the cable into your phone, now did ya?

I'd just like to add that I have a samsung e315 (sam model, dif last numbers due to the fact that I am on tmo) and the PCB093LBE serial cable is way easier to use than the usb cable.. *whistling*

is this the same as what you got? and is this for unlocking the code to switch companys?
I have been given the E317 and Im trying to figure out how to unlock the code so I can put in my sim card.

Yes, PCB093LBE with a switch in the middle of the cable is the right one. For unlocking with s/w, place the switch in D/L position. For PIMS, place the switch in Data position.

I heard there is a software called Agere Attack but it is not cheap. Search the internet for more information. You probably won't go that direction. It will be cheaper to ask professional unlock service at a small fee from cellphone accessories store.
Another option is to flash an unlocked E316 firmware to your phone. Problem is it is not easy to find such firmware from the internet.

Hello again. I got the right cable from the eBay dude, I purchased credits for this website: http://en.soft4gsm.com, in case anybody wants to check it out. I downloaded Samsung Expert Tool 2006, installed it and with two clicks of a mouse my phone was unlocked in under a second. I was just wondering, how i get settings for internet and wap on my phone? From reading some other posts, I get the impression that ringtones and pics I upload to my phone cannot be set as ringtones or photo caller id's. Please correct me if I may be wrong. Help with the WAP settings would be greatful though, or if someone could direct me towards a thread. Thank you all again

Actually, ringtones can be uploaded (as sounds), then set as a ringtone. I've done it. But the thing is, you'll need to convert the ringtone files to a .mmf extension in order to put it on your phone. Also, I believe there's a certain limit. All I know is that the max was like, a 10 second clip at quality of 8kHz. I used a Yamaha .mmf converter program. to convert music clips to .mmf
Dunno about WAP settings, since I don't have Cingular... ^_^"
