Hello everyone...just recently got a V206 for AT&T. The phone is great but having no method of getting the pics out of the phone except emailing really sucks. I have searched the internet for days, and it seems my only option is flashing to the V200 firmware. I am extremely nervous about doing this because all I can find is V205 flashing procedures. Any advice or recommendatons would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Same question asked about V200c to V200 and same answer goes for your question.
Backing up your phone and flashing to new firmware is the same for all V20x phones. You can go to the Samsung forum and find a sticky for upgrading the V205 to the V200 firmware and use the same procedure.

the only thing to change is the read range on the Read tab in Optiflash to back your software up. DO NOT USE the range that is listed in the guide which is:
0x00000000 - 0x00000617
0x00004000 - 0x00007a43
0x00010000 - 0x00567957
0x00700000 - 0x00cbd67f
Instead you will want to use:
0x00000000 - 0x00001fff
0x00004000 - 0x00ffffff
Leave the reserve range blank on the Flash & Verify tab in Optiflash to flash the new firmware to the phone.
If you are concerned about flashing your phone, the most important steps are backing up your current firmware and verifying the backup once complete. If you do these two steps and then flash your phone with V200 firmware you can always restore it if you don't like it.

GoBears,
Hopefully, you ordered a Samsung OEM serial cable to interface with your phone... I say that because there are a lot of folks that have problems with other brands of cables and it's hard to help them with problems when you don't know if the cable is functional for flashing.
I think you'll really like the V200 firmware and the added functionality. Look for a thread that Blueboy just started titled "Useful" where he has created a web site with quite a few firmware versions and the DIY software that you can use to modify the imbeded ringtones and pictures.

Yeah I did spend the extra money and buy the OEM Samsung cable with software. It is a serial cable with the data/dl switch. I was just really nervous because I am a total newbie at this. I would have never even thought of doing something this, hopefully it goes smooth and I won't have to post a big HELP message
Thank You Again

Maybe this is not the answer to the original question, but you CAN get the pictures without having to upgrade.
Go to EasyGPRS and click on the "MyPhoto to PC icon". From there you can select the pictures on the phone and download to PC.

Ok...from what I have read that feature is only supported by the v200 f/w. If its supported by the v206 can I ask what version of EasyGPRS you are using? This is the main reason I wanted to flash, but the zoom feature of the v200 seems very interesting, so I might do it anyway.

I'm using 2.1.2. The icon I'm talking about is on the toolbar, second to last. It's also in the Tools menu.
I do agree with you that it really is worth flashing for many other reasons, unlocking being the first on my list. Unfortunately, the unlock codes do not work with v206.

As soon as I get my cable and do a successful backup, you bet I will share it with everyone. Like I said, I am brand new at this, but it does not seem too bad. The only thing that concerns me about sharing my backup is security concerns. As long as its totally safe to share a backup I would be more than happy to share it. How would I go about sharing it? I do not have a website or anything, but I am an active Winmx user if that would help.
