I used to think the same until I came across this in CSP
Existing and New Cingular Wireless Customers:
The common message center number provisioned on all Cingular SIM cards nationally is +13123149810. Multiple Message Center Numbers are available for each region; however, each will function the same regardless of what is chosen.

We live in Northern California, the number already in place is +12099042010. I changed it to the one quoted here , still not able to send. I changed it back still not able to send. I don't believe she changed to the new sim card that was sent with the phone but is still using the old one with less memory???

Been a cingular customer since pacbell days. Her old phone was a v220. Maybe new phone was not setup correctly???
I don't know. She has three messages wiating to send or still trying tp send, as soon as she trys to send it tells her that it is unable to send with a 254 number along with it. Should she call the 611 number?

Search for Post "do you need to know how to"It get you to the "device tutorial" at the cingular website... awww, what the hey... here's the link (but then check the directions that follow the link)https://tutorials.cingular.com/tutorial/web_tutorials/tutorialLog in?min_msisdn=8888888888&deviceId=7940&subscriberType=cing
1. Select Motorola RAZR V3, 2. Scroll to and select Text Messaging-SMS, 3. Select Send/receive text message, (just for grins go thru the directions to make sure, then) even #'s 1 and 2 at the bottom
then select #3 (follow these directions to the letter, you really don't want to mess up here) (When it says a plus sign (+ ) must proceed the 11 digit number usually to get the plus sign you hold the "0" zero key down for 2 seconds.
