alright peoples...this has happened to me before and i fixed it but i forgot how. mobile phonetools won't recognize that my phone is connected so therefore pst and p2kman won't work as well. i tried to uninstall and reinstall everything back but i don't know if there is a certain order that would be best. if anyone can offer any feedback i'd widely appreciate it

Mobile PHone Tools has a new update available (version 4.04). If you have updated it by using the liveupdate option, it could be a conflict between the two versions.
I had the same problem last week. I started up the MPT software program with my phone plugged in. The MPT did not recognize it once again. Without unplugging the phone, I powered it off and then on again. MPT then recognized the phone. Weird huh?
But it worked for me and has worked for some others as well. Give it a shot.

Clearly a driver problem as Cols suggested update your MPT to the latest version and follow its directions to install the drivers. After you disconnect your phone from MPT wait like 2-5 minutes for MPT to release the modem (it hangs on longer than the p2kprogs do) then when the modem is free start-up one of the P2kprogs and install the p2kdrivers necessary.

I had a problem with PhoneTools. It only started after I let it run liveupdate. I had to uninstall it, then "uninstall" the phone through device manager. PhoneTools works fine now for me.

I have that problem a lot with my V600, it's always solved by restarting both the phone and my PC, it's weird I know.
Oh and with MPT 4.04 it releases the phone in seconds now, or at least it does for me.

Thats nice to know, that driver release lag is very annoying...

Yeah, I think MPT 4.04 has a new set of drivers.
