hey everyone. my friend sold me a t mobile phone but i think it may have been stolen. all the contacts were deleted but some other preset things were on there. i was browsing the internet and found information about imei numbers and how they can block the service.
i am wondering.. if the sim card isnt there and the phone was working, can they still block it or does the phone have to have the sim card in it.. then be blocked.. then nothing can be used?
i am also nervous that if i stick my sim card in there they will track me or something? thanks for the info.
btw its a samsung e715

North American providers do not maintain a lost /stolen list for GSM devices as of yet

okay so i just talked to my friend who sold me the phone and he says he bought it off some guys for like 5 bux on the street. he says that they downloaded some stuff like ringtones and games and stuff under the old persons acct sim card. he says that they deleted the contacts adn everything so theres no way to return it.
so now if i put my sim card in will they know the phone and recognize it as stolen and get me in trouble for downloading stuff on it even though i didnt? thanks for the help

the feature that your talking about tracks the registration of the service... that registration is the SIM card... not the phone... the phone is only the instrument for delivering the calls... the sim allows the calls to process
