I am going to be starting a plan with nextel soon it will be my first time so I just have a few questions about the plan and some of the phones.
The plan I think I'm going to sign up for will be the national power 400 the one for 39.99/month it says it gives me 400 Min's unlimited night and weekends long distance included and unlimited walkie talkie one my questions is for the unlimited local walkie talkie. Would it only be free if I used walkie talkie with someone else who had a nextel or is it just free unlimited to whoever I call. Because most of my friends have nextals. I am also guessing the Min's will be free if I call another person who has a nextel just like it is with cingular?
Now my next and last question would be about the phone I want to get is the i870 I heard some pretty good things about it I have seen and used it very nice phone. So I am just asking to get your point of view on this phone. And if I should not buy this phone is there a better nextel phone coming out soon?
sorry if these are a lot of questions but any help would be great. Thank you

I'm not famure with this plan but i have the Free incoming 300 plan with unlimted DC (walkie talkie)
In my experence there are 3 types of Direct Connect (Walkie Talkie) Local, Nationwide & International.
Check your plan as to what you got, if it just says unlimited walkie talkie I think that would be local only but i could be wrong. If it says Nationwide then your good to go as it covers local too.
The local DC works off areas and you will be charged a additional rate if the person you are DCing is a longer distance away. Easy way is to assume that your state is your area as they are not really clearly set up.
If your firends have nextel just walkie talkie them as that would be free, You can get mobile to mobile but i don't know if its included and its just easyer to walkie talkie them if they alreay have nextel/boost.
The two top of the line phones out are the i870 and the i930. If you like the i870 get it all the i930 has on it is that it used windows moble OS. I have a i870 and love it. And as for new phones comming out....not to many plans for any really new phones There the i920 coming out that is a i930 with no camera and a i580 which i persume is rugitized i560 with a camera.
Hope that helps

Thank for your help but I just have one more question all my friends all live in the same state and pretty much the same area so I am not worried about being charged so you think the national 400 plan would be good?
If you do not know what the national 400 plan offers here it is.

DC is Walkie Talkie (old school before sprint take over sorry its a habbit)
As for the plan, It depends on you and your using habbits. Do you call people or do they call you? You talk more durning the day then night?
I have free incoming 300 and swear by it. Nothing better then knowing when someone calls you during the day you can talk for as long as you want and your not getting charged a thing. Free night and weekends is also good as you can talk as much as you want then. With this plan you have unlimited local walkie talkie (DC ) so i would sugest if you get this plan just to walkie talkie your friends as it will not cost you anything extraa and will not eat away at your minutes

not bothering at all, free incoming is exactily what you think it is. When someone calls you its free. No matter what time it is of the day and for however long THAT call lasts its free. However if they call you lets say at noon on a monday and you and your friend talk for 5 mins and hang up. Then you call them back that second call is not free becuase they did not call you, you called them.
Hope that helps

Yea that helps so its free only when they call me. And when I call someone that goes on my minutes right? But if I call them on walkie talkie that would be free. Sorry if this is taking long like I said I am a newbie.
Also I am only 16 will they let me start a plan or am I to young? If so would they let me put it under my mom or dads name the only problem is my parents already have plans under cingular would they still let me put it under my parents name?

free incoming 300
if they call = free
if you call (during peak or daytime) = eats away at your minutes
If you walkie talkie = free
As for your age, your a minor and cannot sign a contract you would have to have your parents sign up for a account. You will have to sign a 2 year contract to get lower prices on plans and the phones and there is $200 ETF (Early Termination Fee) if you decide not to keep you line of service.
BTW
I just checked and the freeincoming plans now include nationwide walkie talkie, I'll be calling up on monday and switching my plan over to the new free incoming as its the same and i get free nationwide dc included.....so i'll be getting the same plan as you if you get it plus my unlimted texts
For more nexel information check out this fourm, much more activity there http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=80
