my first week at Cingular I was listening to calls with different reps, a customer calls in and states: "I bought this phone from a pawn shop, it needs a subsidy unlockcode, I don't have and account but the IMEI is xxxxxxxxx" I'm sorry sir but we cannot provide that for you. 10 minutes later, different rep, same guy: "My friend gave me this phone, it needs a subsidy unlockcode, I don't have and account but the IMEI is xxxxxxxxx" At this point I tell the rep I was sitting with, he changed his story up a little but that's the same guy that got denied earlier. Eventually it got around the call center, and a few minutes later he calls back to someone else. Now that is just plain dumb persistence.

I do tech support for T-Mobile. My favorite was a dude who called in who didn't have an account. He identified himself as with some pest control company or another. He says that he was servicing a tower recently, and he was pretty sure it was one of ours. He just wanted us to let our engineers know that there were some bees in the tower, and could we please remove them because if he sprayed it it might short out some electrical equipment and render the tower out of service. He didn't know who to call. The best part is I'm in Tier II tech and only a few calls get to us from the IVR, and that wasn't one of them. Someone transferred that call to me!!!! I put the poor dude on hold and asked my supervisor, more or less just to joke around, "What do we do if there are bees in the tower?" She looks at me like I've been smoking crack, and is so stymied by the question that she goes and asks all the other supervisors if they've ever heard anything like that. Meanwhile I tell the guy that he should contact the landlords of the tower, who are the people who hired him in the first place, because surely they have some T-Mobile contact they can call. He says they told him to call us. What am I going to do? Hop a plane from Pennsylvania to God-knows-where and take the bees out myself?
Another favorite is the "do-it guy." He calls and instructs the reps to say "do it" after each command (like, powercycle your phone, DO IT!!) We were warned about him in training. A friend got him shortly after our training. She didn't give in to his requests, but she could hear him choking the chicken in the background. Pervert. He's since been banned from calling us.
I could probably go on for a few more days but I'll save the rest for later . . .

i heard you make a ticket. for cingular, there was once a ticket because a tower in california needed maintenance, but it had a nest of condor in it, and a ticket had to be created because the tower couldn't be touched while the condor was in it. I also heard there has been tickets made when the grass around the tower needs to be mowed.

i had a guy locked behind the fence going to or from a tower and was trying to get the people out I called care and called a few depts eventually told him to call the authorities and have them cut the locks off the gates and let the people out. At least then they would be responsible.(cops fire dept) for keeping it secure until someone could come and lock the gate or whatever.. I have a tower behind the house i used to live at and I'm almost positive it has a motion sensitive alarm. I saw the police go by me after i drove by the tower.

Okay, so I think this wins BEST CALL EVER. My first call of the day today I get a customer who says "My phone says insert fifty-one M card (yes that's exactly what he said) and I don't know what to do." The whisper to the IVR indicated that this was a transfer to me. A transfer! I politely said, figting back spasms of laughter, "Oh, you must mean insert SIM card." I assisted the dude in repositioning his SIM and he was OK. Turns out his LDI was red, he knew the phone and SIM had gotten wet but it had been working for 6 months. I told him if it would happen again he would need a new damned SIM card, or a new phone.
Okay, so the best part. I check Samson for the notes from the Tier 1 rep. They read, "Customer says his phone says 'insert 51m card.' Searched Primus and couldn't find anything. Transferred to Tier II." (Primus is our tech knowledgebase, I'm sure Cingular-and-Verizonites have something similar.) Come on! Even a rep in the first week of training should be able to guess that he means SIM! When typing 51m it should have at least dawned on her. That's leet-speak for SIM! I spent the next two minutes laughing my ass off in ACW. I love tech.

I had a lady call me from a corperate location really mad customer walk into one of the coperate headquarters type building to get their issues resolved. I started asking her about her work and she was like "yeah sometimes customer walk right on in blah blah blah." She wanted a customer who never receieved their order their money put on their credit card like immediatly.. I was like umm. I went thru the procedure that i was supposed to do but she seriously thought that the customer would get their money put on their cc on that day or at least try to get the issue resolved for the customer. I was like OMG maybe it goes high enough up and let the big wigs see what it is like to be a customer or even a rep trying to help your customer get their issue resolved I wanted to tell her so bad. (this happens with every other call I get customer can't be helped or no one will help them because they don't know how don't know what dept can do what etc.) help everyone that calls in instead of transfering the customer because "it's not my department and I'm not allowed to do that" But anyway I thought it was funny.
