I am getting the sony Ericsson W-600i. Just waiting on it to come in. My Mom got hers last week. The price was 299.99. But the Cingular rep told us that we would get a 100.00 mail in rebate; making the phone only 199.99. Well; I was helping my Mom fill out her reabate last night & we got it all ready to send off & I was looking back over it; to make sure I had everything together. That's when I read in small print; that between 10-12 weeks, she would receive two Cingular Visa cards. It would be two of them. both would be in 50.00 increments. And they may not arrive on the same day. You have 120 days to use these cards. We were planning on putting the rebate on our credit card; when it did arrive. She is still keeping her phone & I'm still getting mine. But we are going to let Cingular know how we feel about this. Seems we aren't the only ones. I was reading on C-Net; that this happened to a man. But he had already sent his rebate in. You can imagine how he felt; when he didn't receive a check. Instead he received the Visa cards. He had also filed a complaint. But he hasn't posted a reply since. Was wondering how other people felt about this. Or if there were some people; that this had already happened to??? I think it's false advertisement. Plain & Simple!!!

how is this false advertising??? no where dose it say you will recive a rebate CHECK it just says rebate, also the visa cards you recieve are like prepaide credit cards, they can be used anywhere. so b4 you get you pampers in a ruffel and poop youself you should read the fine print , thats what is there for , its not just there to look cool.

For your information WE were told by a Cingular rep. that we would receive a 100.00 CASH rebate by mailing in the form. Just as wealways have in the past. To me CASH rebate is NOT a Visa card. I have a credit card for your information. I was asking a simple & legitimate question. If you were planning on being childish with your answer; you could have kept your comment to yourself. I'm a 44 yr.old adult; with NO need for childish behavior. Like I said. I had read this on other sites & was wondering if anyone on here felt the same way. And for your informatoin; we were in Cingular today. And our rep. told us; that they had gotten these REVISED rebate forms & had been telling their other customers that it was a 100.00 cash rebate. Even our rep thought it to be very mis-leading. He gave us a # to call & told us; that we may be able to get our money. Thank you for being such a smart a$$; though. You have a good day.

what's the big deal. the visa cards are just as much cash as a check is. if you want to get really techincal a check isn't a cash rebate either.

You should have known that you wern't getting a "cash" rebate. A check isn't cash, take your rebate cards and make you credit card payments with them, its the same difference.

I was also disappointed with this form of rebate. These VISA cards were also an annoying nuisance to use as well. On the card itself, it's marked "DEBIT CARD", but the literature accompanying the cards informs the recipient to tell the merchant that these are in fact CREDIT cards. When charging with these cards, you just can't depend on sliding it through the cardreader and have whatever the available balance get drawndown towards your purchase; you must instead know what your available balance is - and - charge an amount no larger than that amount - or the transaction is totally rejected. Very inconvenient is you're not in touch with the remaining balance on the card. Merchants were confused by it also. Would have preferred the expected check.

LOL this is fun, you guys are funny. You better be glad your EVEN getting a rebate. You should be really pissed off on when you will recieve this rebate. By the time you get it you wont even remember sending it off. In this day in the world credit cards are just as good as cash (and a 44 year old man should know this, if not he doesnt need a cell phone)

Hi BigRUSS, I'm not sure if that last response was directed my way, but with cards I have previously used, the REMAINING balance of the card is totally depleted and then the register displays the remaining outstanding balance so that you can continue paying with ANOTHER additional form of payment (maybe even another one of these cards). But these cards didn't work that way; they wouldn't deplete, they would just reject if you attempted to use them in a transaction that was larger than their remaining balance. Yes, not big deal, just stating my experience...that's what I thought these forums were for. Plain friendly exchanges. Now we can all go back to watching Florida beat UCLA ... (it's currently 63-51)
