Actually, go to Control Panel again
Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Modems
Click ADD and Don't detect model I wil select from a list
Then on the scrolldown menu I believe? I forgot if it's the first white box, or the second one. But anyways, look for Samsung or something. I did that way and was able to set up COM 1, COM 3, and the actual one (COM 4) for the samsung modem.
Mine's says Samsung Mobile USB Model 1.0 COM4
Dunno if that helped you but I hope it did. Make sure the driver is also installed. Oh yea and make sure you restart. I restarted the comp and it worked after that.

NP. Actually, use Samsung PC Studio PIMS & File Manager. Does the phone appear as online? If not, then you need to figure out how to do so. Oh yea, and did you set it up? I'm not home right now, but I think there was a setup/properties or something option in PC Studio. Get to that, then for the port select COM4 or whatever you have has your Samsung modem port. Then select a speed from the list (115200 or something? I forgot. I'll edit this once I get back home ) Anyway, then click refresh (not from the menu, but from the screen. It's like a picture or something, idk. It's on the top left corner) and it should load your phonebook, sms, mms, etc. Then go to Tools > File Manager And upload/download files from there.

you have been a great help i just need this know how to do this i guess...
i went to control panel and then phone and modem options and installed "samsung gprs modem" to com1...
i tried to use the easy gprs but it says i am offline...
i then tried using the pim and file manager 2.0 program and i went to setup and i went to "port" and there are no options (i guess the coms) to pick from...
any more help would be great lol thanks...

Hmm... Okay umm... try reinstalling the driver again--the USB driver. When I said "you need to figure out how to do so" I meant that you might need to look around the forums for any threads regarding your phone and a data cable, because your phone is a different model from mines lol.
But anyway, hm... So only COM1 appeared? Okay, hmm...
Actually, you know what I did? I downloaded the Samsung PC STudio Sync 2.0
Now, I CANNOT guarantee this will work, since that application came with my phone (in the PC Studio CD). I installed it after I installed PC Studio PIMS & File Manager, so maybe that could've been it?
Or you can try this the Samsung PC Studio Wide Sync II 2.0
You can get them here:
http://my.samsungmobile.com/en/phone/manual_software/manual_software.j sp?page=3
Look for the samsung sgh-e730 (my samsung phone model) or another one on that page and look for another PC Sync application.
But like I said I cannot guarantee anything, but good anyway. :] Hopefully it'll work out for you. Is your phone an older model, perchance? I noticed it's a Verizon released phone, since it's a SCH model. The downside is, you really can't get a lot of help when it comes to your phone because I would say, most of the people here have SGH models. Most of the time, sgh models are either imports, or are released by T-Mobile or Cingular, since they are GSM phones (accepting GSM SIM cards). Verizon phones are built slightly different, so the help I can offer you is very limited, but I truly wish you luck on all of this. :] It's frustrating, but eventually it's got to work. :]
