I love the line, "the customer is always right". So therefore they are entitled to anything and everything they want on their terms.

I actually love it when a lawyer calls....

the usual scenario is said lawyer is trying to get out of the contract because his VM indicator didnt work while he was off network or something trivial like that

and I give the normal response... Cingular cannot guarnatee 100% service 100% of the time there are gaps in service and if you happen to be off network some network features may not function the same as if you were on network....

the ambulance chaser response... breach of contract!!!!!

my retort..... Did you read your terms of service?

there are several responses that I have gotten

yes I did...

I then read verbatim the terms of service quoting section and subsection of the terms of service...at which time I usually hear a click (cust hung up)

or

no I did not....

so you entered into a contractual agreement without reading it?

once again a click normally

or the negotiator (tries to bargain for credit)

I want a credit for VM (free service)...

my response... yes sir... I will credit EXACTLY what you have been charged for VM (this case).. input a feature credit for 0.00 (that actually shows on the bill as 0.00!!)

these scenarios have happened dozens of times

and I would well imagine they are not unique to Cingular ( ATT ) Wireless

When some customers call in about a phone problem you would think they would die if it is not fixed. The customer panics over a luxury item. They treat a cell phone as if they would die if it did not work. What did they do before cell phones came out? lol icon_grin.gif

In their defense, there are not as many payphones out there as there used to be, and some people cancelled there homephones to save on a bill.

On the other hand I understand you as well. Someone came b|tching to me about no service centers being open on the weekend. I asked them how many car repair centers were open on nights and weekends. A lot of us have cell phones just in case of car trouble, does that not make the car more important?

The consumers in this country really seem to think that everyone is required to bend over backwards to help them through their crises (cell phone not working for a two hour stretch during the late morning). In 9 years in retail the one thing I have learned is that the customer is NOT always right.
