I have a Nokia 6102 and bought a generic CA-42 USB cable but the Nokia PC Suite software will not connect to the phone. If anyone has any ideas on how to get this working please help.
Thank you,
Amanda

I'm in the same boat here.
I have a 3220 and my g/f has the 6102.
Cable seems to be working fine via the computer's standards, but Nokia PC Suite 6.7 is not connecting with either phone.
Whatever happend to plug and play?

2 possibilities:
a) you bought a replica cable. They normally do work when you install the drivers which came with them and afterwards install the drivers for the original Nokia cable. (and some won't work at all)
b) you've forgotten to set the correct COM port in the Connection Manager of PC. (the cable emulates a serial COM port - plug&play isn't really working here)

My CA-42 cable did not really come with a driver is just came with a CD that guides you through the Windows installation of the driver. I let windows install the driver then downloaded and installed the driver from Nokia then finally installed Nokia PC suite it still does not work. My device manager shows a Prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge. I am beginning to think that there is nothing I can do but buy the original Nokia cable.
Thanks for your help,
Amanda

Have you checked for the correct COM port?
And such problems are the reason why you should buy original accessories

Not sure what you mean by checking the correct COM port.

I just saw I forgotten the word "Suite" after PC in my first answer.
So it does work now?

It works now, at first I didn't understand the COM part until you added the 'Suite' part. Thanks a ton!
