Hello,
I have a e715 with e710 F/W... and I need to change it's IMEI... I use windows XP and have the PCB093LBE cable (the one I used to change the F/W and upload/download stuff from the phone). I tried almost all the programms I could find (cerberos, agere tools, WinIMEI, IMEI-Changer, samsung tools, etc) and none has worked :'( (some didn't find the phone, others said everything went well even before pluggin in the phone, also got '12 section doesnt exist')... I would really appreciate some help... dont know if it's the cable, my computer, the programs... but until now i haven't found the solution and would appreciate some help... someone said that the PCB093LBE doesn't work for it that I should use the PCB180LBE, the one for the c100, I'm willing to get it if that's going to end with my troubles...
thanks.

It is the switch. You need to place it in D/L to use it with the S/W you just mentioned. In Data position it will only work with OptiFlash and PIMS.

Did you change the IMEI back to the phone's IMEI number which is marked on a label inside the battery compartment? With 710 firmware, the phone will operate in 900/1800. Are you in Europe? What make you think that the phone is barred? Was it barred before you change the firmware?

No, I changed to completely different number... What makes me think it's barred is that one day it just stopped getting signal (before changing f/w and all that) I went to a repair store and they told me that it was barred, I believed 'em cuz it got signal 2 times, for less than 5 mins, both at midnight...
but it may be the e710 f/w... ...not in europe but it should get signal, I called Enitel (my phone company over here, Nicaragua) and asked in wich band do they work and they said 900/1800/1900...

Call your service provider and ask them why your phone got barred. Unless you got the phone illegally otherwise they shouldn't barred it. If it is not barred, it could mean other thing like hardware problem.

I also though it was a hardware issue, but then how can u explain those 2 times I noticed it recived signal at midnight?
Anyhow I already called 'em, they said they don't do that... the phone was a gift from my sister, she got it in US at T-Mobile therefore Enitel doesn't has the right to barre it... I was told at the repair store that Enitel was doing that so we wouldn't change to Movistar (it's the new phone company over here)
BTW does Agere Tools change the IMEI # wich it registers with or only the one it displays by typing *#06#?

It sounds like it is not an issue with the phone being barred from what Enitel told you. About the 2 times that you noticed it received signal at midnight, did it happen after you changed the firmware or before it? As for the IMEI#, I would suggest you changing it to the same IMEI# of the phone which you can find on a label inside the battery compartment.
By the way, did the phone ever work with the original E715 firmware? What is the reason to change it to E710 firmware?

Those 2 times happened with the original e715 f/w, so it happened before changing f/w... what difference does it make to have it with the IMEI# from the label or a custom one?
Yes, it worked fine for around a year, then it lost the signal... after losing any sign of signal i though about changing f/w, that way I would upgrade f/w (get rid of all T-mobile logos and stuff and also get video) and maybe by flashing it, it would change the IMEI#... the upgrade went perfectly fine, but didn't change the IMEI# so I got Agere Tools and with ur help changed the IMEI# or at least the one it displays when typing *#06#

I got the feeling that the problem may be related to the hardware rather than software. As for the IMEI#, when you flashed the firmware, it should be changed to the IMEI# that comes with the new firmware. When you mentioned custom one, where did you get the IMEI#. Is it the one that you found when typing *#06# after you changed the firmware? If so, that is the IMEI# that comes with the new firmware.
