if you keep using the medianet package you will keep being billed for the data charges if you change to a data connect plan a plan designed for the PDA and Air Cards you will not get charged for data usage medianet, Is desigend for a standard GSM cellphone for internet usage does not display graphis ver well due to limited memory on the devices the treo views webpages like a normal coimputer

I asked what the difference in the MediaNet and Data plans were and his reply was:
"Data plans allows you to SEE web pages just as if you are looking at a computer. MediaNet can not translate those same pages so they simply would not be accessible via the phone".
WRONG! My Treo view pages the same way as a computer and I am using the MediaNet package. |
the data isnt billing right...why dont you call customer care and have that fixed

OK not WRONG!! why do you think you were billed?? Because you were doing something that was not included in the package that you signed up for, of course you can view the web pages but thats because that is a capability that the treo has, It has nothing to do with your data package the media net covers WAP pages not HTML its plain and simple, i hope that you changed to the data package because if you didn't its you own fault when you get charged usage charges next month, you aren't wanting to listen to anybody on this forum so why did you even post the question on the first place?

The reason I was billed wrong was because they didn't have me on the MediaNet UNLIMITED. They had me on the MediaNet Basic, which is ? 10 mb? or something.
So, last month, they placed me on the MediaNet UNLIMITED half way though the cycle, and part of the month didn't catch the unlimited.
8 days were billed with the BASIC and the other 23 days were billed at UNLIMITED. Thus, the additional data charges. NOT because I went to HTML websites.
Next month, everything should be just fine. I'll surf the Internet UNLIMITED for $20 using the MediaNet Unlimited package and view FULL HTML pages.

No. I was billed for the wrong package, not "data" that wasn't covered by MediaNet.
They had me on a BASIC plan and not the UNLIMIED plan, that is where the additional charges came from. Not becuase I am using a Treo on the MediaNet. Data plans are for? who knows....?

Even if you are able to use a treo w/ the mediaNet unlim. Doesnt mean that you are supposed to. You may have found a way around the system, but even if that is the case it is not morally right. What happens if 6months down the road you have a problem and someone investiagtes your account further and sees that you are doing something that is obviously against their policy. The data connect plans are for the PDA and AirCards.
That is just the way it is. MediaNet is for cell phones NOT for PDA's. Just because you can do something doesnt mean it is right.
If a bank teller accidently dropped $300 out of a deposit bag unknowingly and you took the money and kept it, you would be a criminal for stealing. Situation is basicly the same here. You are paying less then 1/2 of what you should be paying monthly, essentially stealing from cingular. Sure cingular makes tons of money, but that doesnt change the fact that you are stealing from them.

I suppose you are going to also say that another example of "Cingular says, so it is so...." is that MobiTV can't be viewed on a Treo, because Cingular says that it can't.
Cingular says NO:
http://www.cingular.com/media/media_phones#palmone
MobiTV says YES:
http://www.mobitv.com/palm/index.html
My PERSONAL experience is that Treo's CAN.
Cingular also states on that page that RINGTONES are not compatible with a Treo. WHAT!?!?! Come on! I wont even begin to tell you that ringtones ARE compatible with a Treo! For Heavens sake, it's a SMARTPHONE!
Just because Cingular says it can't doesn't make THEM right!

Please re-read my earlier posts. I clearly stated that I asked TWO Cingular employees about the MediaNet plan for the Treo. I told them I wanted to surf the Internet and access email. BOTH of them said Media Net will work fine on the Treo. One of them actually said "The data package is better though, you will be missing out on stuff without it". I asked "Like what?" but she didn't know. All she could say was "I'm not sure, but this is a Smartphone, it dose alot more than just surf the Internet and email".
I'm a thief? Or they are lairs?
Just because you know more than the people who represent Cingular I can't cave in and accept that I am wrong.
If the bank teller dropped the money and I told her 2 times that she dropped it and she said both time "IT'S OK", never picked it up and walked away, is it still theft if you take it? Basically, to me, she is saying "I don't want it".

so why not call MobiTV for support then...cingular has a narrow field of support...the specs of what they can support for your device are just that ... specifications... if what you want falls outside of that...cingular cant help you

OK, so by saying that, you are saying that on this page:
http://www.cingular.com/media/media_phones#palmone
if the item is NOT checked, it just isn't supported by Cingular? Or supported by that phone?
