You have found a loophole in Cingular policy. Yes you can use the MEdia Net Unlimited on your Treo. But as of now you have been told by me (an authorized agent of Cingular) that you should not be on the MEdia Net as it only applys to regular cell phones. Now comes the ethical dilemma, do the right thing or not. Switch to the Unlimited PDA Connect and all billing issues will dissapear, as far as the data charges are concerned. Here is a quote that you should take to heart, "they were to busy with whether or not they could, they didnt stop to think if they should". Have fun with you dilemma.

"loophole" I think not. This is not of the magnitude of a loophole but rather a price gouging from Cingular. If they cared, they would KNOW what kind of phone I was using.

Umm.. Please, read my prior posts. I have been told by OTHER Cingular reps that IT IS OK! You are a Cingular rep? Ummm, OK... I guess. But I will stick to what the phone and local reps tell me. So, "AS OF NOW" I have still been told by three OTHER Cingular reps that it is OK. That's the problem with you guys... Rep #1 says "THIS" and Rep #2 says "THAT" and Rep #3 say "Something else". You are not the FINAL authority, so get off your high horse.

Dilemma? Sorry, son; it was solved last month by several "PAID" Cingluar consultants (a.k.a. representatives).

hey he is not going to listen to any cingular reps in here unless we tell him what he wants to hear and he is going to argue with anyone that says something that he does not want tohere so let him live in his own little world that reloves around him and customer care will finally get tired of crediting him each month that he will finally get himself into a jam with a high data usage charge

Just FYI, I checcked my balance and there are no extra charges as of this time.
If you can re-read my prior posts you will see that the billing errors WERE NOT DUE TO USAGE!!!!! The billing errors were simply due to me NOT being on the Unlimited MediaNet--- but rather the BASIC mediaNet!
I was "in transit" in billing dates. How can I make that any clearer to you?
NOT BECAUSE OF DATA USED!!! BECAUSE OF BEING ON THE BASIC AND NOT THE UNLIMITED!
Basic I used 700; and was charged for the additional 600 Now that I am on the unlimted, I will not see the additional 600 charges!

If you will talk to A "CINGULAR" REP NOT AN AGENT THAT SELLS PHONES FOR SEVERAL PROVIDERS YOU WILL GET THE RIGHT ANSWER.TRUTH IS IF IT IS NOT A CINGULAR CORPORATE STORE AGENT YOU ARE TALKING TO AN AGENT THAT SELLS CINGULAR, T-MOBILE, SPRINT, ETC SERVICES.

Note sure if the cingular reps that were replying to this thread earlier are still listing, but quick question. If I purchase a Cingluar phone that supports wireless (802.11b), do I still have to pay for media net or the other connection service to access the internet when I am in a wireless hotspot (not using the cingular network)? Basically I am trying to combine two devices (keep my phone for a phone, but have a wireless handheld combined as well); I would like to keep my phone bill low ($40) and use it for a portable wireless (802.11) device.

Sure, I am late in replying to this lovely thread and I do not know that anyone reads these any longer, but what the heck. I have time.
All I have to say on this is that people telling you that you need the PDA package with a Treo are correct. Sure, you can cheat the company because of false information given to you when you called customer service. Something you might want to keep in mind is that because you do have the wrong plan and are blatantly using it, the service provider has, according to your contract, the right to remove the erroneous plan and put you on the pay per use, which is $.01 per kilobyte.
And when you receive that bill, it most certainly will be valid.
