say that you can get your phone unlocked. Will this enable the user of the phone to fully use the bluetooth capabilities?

Not sure what you mean by getting it unlocked. But I have the 8100 and use a Motorola bluetooth headset and it works great. I like it more than I thought i would!

If you unlock (read: crack) the bluetooth functionalities, you might be able to. However, how the Verizon UI will be able to handle the transfer of data from one device to another is unknown. You might be required to do all transfer via the debug mode (menu + 0, 000000) to check bluetooth functionality.
I've never done it, but that's because I don't have a bluetooth enabled device.

To unlock the bluetooth capabilities:
You can enable DUN for the 8100 by
pressing menu
than 0
it will ask you for a security code which is 000000
once in the servicing menu you will see something like data settings
you can scrow down till you see
cable dun
bt dun
select either one and choose the enable option by highlighing and hitting ok
once that is done just hit clear till you are completetly out

you should be able to... however... if you have a bluetooth headset made for a specific phone with specific funtions when you pair it to another phone of a different model some functionality *may* be lost
