I've been having problems with my MPT's. When I try to move a ringtone into my music folder I get a 'request denied by phone(unsupported media type (0x4F))' notice. The problem is, I've done several in the past so I know I've got the format correct. Even when I move a file from my phone to my computer and then try to move it back it says the same thing. I can transfer pictures fine, it's just these ringtones.
Any ideas?

Hey Old Fool,
Yes, I did that already. I was on the phone with Moto support for 1 hour. Updating drivers etc. They finally said re-install MPT. I did, same problem.

Good to be back with old friends,
Thanks

How about the name? just rename it to something simple like abc before you transfer, just to see if there is some character in there that it does not like

At first it wasn't letting me transfer because I had the names too long. When I changed the names to something shorter it got past that and then stopped me with the denied warning. I've never tried p2k. I've looked at it. I'm supposed to be able to explore to the drive and be able to add files that way, but I don't see it with MPT, just iTunes. It's not working that way. I'm going to try it with my V551 instead of my ROKR and see if it's the phone.
More later...

Well, I got it to work, but not with MPT's. It's a worthless program if you ask me. It takes FOREVER to load. What I finally did was;hooked my phone to iTunes and got it updating and then opened two explore windows. On one I went to my phone> F drive and in the second I went to my ringtones in my C drive>my music. Then I just dragged one into the other and magically there it was. That's the way they tell you to do it in the ROKR manual, but who reads those when we know everything?
Thanks to all you guys, always a pleasure.

SH**! I went to look at my phone's ringtones after I disconnected from iTunes and the D*** things aren't there!!! Oh well, I'm 50 years old, what do I need with ringtones?
And I was so happy...

I searched my phone and found the tones I copied.
I had to switch storage devices and then copy the tones to the phone. I now have Santana's Europa as a ringtone. Was it worth two days of screwing around? I just like finally doing what I wanted. I hate getting beaten by technology.
Thanks again,
Maui Cat
PS So obviously I had the correct format, so why wasn't MPT letting me move my ringtones around?

I think I might have figured it out. When I copied the tones from the second device on my phone, it told me I didn't have enough room, so I had to delete some of the existing ringtones. Then it allowed it. Could this have been the reason for the original denial in MPT's?
