You need to select unlock sp rather than using it to simply flash.

Flashing will not unlock a phone

I've been trying to do this. I select the unlock tab then i select the model(v3) and then i select unlock sp i think its called, then do job and it goes through and it says it downgrading the bootloader then it tells me to do the following steps which are to unplug the phone, turn it on, wait 3-5seconds then plug the phone back in and wait some time for the computer to recognize the phone then hit ok after i do that i click ok and it gives me 2 error message saying something like:

ERROR: COULD NOT CONNECT

This is all from memory so im not sure exactly if that is correct.so could someone post exactly how they did it?
has anyone had a problem with it?

Follow the guide to connecting to P2k programs (sounds like you are missing the flash interface device driver)

Then use RSD Lite to flash the archy bootloader downgrade listed in the first post if you currently have bootloader 8.26 or lower. If you have bootloader 8.28 or 8.29 you currently need a smartclip to unlock

I just bought a black Cingular RAZR V3i
It is locked to Cingular
It is bootloader 8.26 and Software R374
Can I unlock this phone using this method or will I risk bricking it ?

ok i've been workin on this for a few hours, kinda getting stumped. bootloader 8.26
Flex version Gsmv3xxT677GA164
sw version R374_G_0E.42.10R
model- moto v3 razr. ok
i followed the guide down to the tip(i think at least) and when i flash the bootloader with the 8.26 - 7, it completes, but then i can't get into the bootloader powering up with * + # and pwr. it blinks the keys and doesn't do anything. i got the bootloader back up by reflashing the 8.26. any ideas?

Often bootloader 7.D0 displays as all black - i.e. you don't see anything on the phones screen. So long as RSD lite sees it and the phone works there is nothing to worry about
