HOW-TO: Unlock RAZR V3 yourself (R374, BL 08.26 and below)

I follow the step on the first page in this section. But, I can't get any display on my V3 phone. the phone won't boot to lower loader. Any one out here can tell my why?

I was unlocking a razr v3 and i used rsd lite (i am new to unlocking might I add)

it froze on me and i disconnected the cable to retry
And now the phone flashes on and off, on and off. The rsd program will not read the phone anymore. Please help is the phone destroyed or can I repair this, tell me what do I need to do!

I unlocked my phone, the steps on the first page are works. Now, I need install chinese language pack on my V3 phone, who can help me out here?

Thanks for your help. I was wondering if yuo know where ca I get a software for to get the subsidy code using the IMEI number. If there is no need for use cables with this procedure is because there is a aftware for to do it. Do you know something about this software? name?

Recently I unlocked my Motorola V3r myself using testpoint
Boot Loader : OA.30.
SW Version: R4515_G_08.BD.43R

It took less than 30 min to unlock and procedure is very easy (and to me, it is safe too).

Let me describe it (do your own risk):

Before doing anything, collect and install the following utilities and drivers:
A. P2K Easy Tool (version 3.9, I can't guarantee for other versions),
B. Flash & Backup (Ver 3.0.6 or later, earlier versions do not support V3r)
C. USB drivers for Motorola Handsets

You can easily download above utilities from the net (just google).

Backup (Optional but good idea):
After installing USB drivers and Flash & Backup program, connect your phone to your computer. Run Flash & Backup select Active Mobile Profile (v3r). From Read Data tab selct all code groups and click ReadData button. It will take about 5 min. to backup your mobile data. If anything goes wrong during unlocking your mobile, they will save your ass

Unlocking your mobile (using testpoint):

a. Make sure battery is fully charged
b. Disconnect the battery
c. Remove 2 screws using Torx T5 or T6 screwdriver
d. Carefully unclip 4 clips to separate upper-rear half of the mobile
(careful to unplug the ribon cable also)

Identifying the Testpoint of V3r:
Observe the separated upper-rear half of the mobile (which has battery connectors and usb port).
At the left-bottom of that part you will see an IC. At upper-left of that IC, the soldered component has a testpoint. In fact, tiny upper soldered part of that component is a testpoint of v3r.
(in P2K V5.X there is an option to show testpoint of different phones.
But for v3r, it shows different testpoint which may also work but I am not sure)

To unlock the mobile you have to ground that testpoint while powering on the mobile part (with battery) and connecting the USB port. It is the most tricky part as you will need 6 hands to do all the things altogether. You figure out how to do it. I put the mobile part on the table and used adhesive tape so that it can't move. I asked my wife to do all the mouse clicking and connecting usb port to the computer while I was busy with the testpoint and battery

Now I will tell you what to do (please take care about order of the steps I have described):

1. Run P2K Easy Tool (version 3.9)
a) go to Locks tab
b) select phone model: V3r
c) check box - Unlock SP
(Do NOT click anything else)
2. Ground the test-point (clip metal plate of usb port with a wire, touch the test-point by the other side of the wire**)
3. Connect the mobile part with computer via usb port (step 2 and 3 may be interchangable)
4. Connect the battery with the battery connectors of the mobile firmly
(make sure test point was always grounded during the battery connection-otherwise you may have to do step 1 to 4 again; even you may have to reboot you machine)
5. Click 'Do Selected Jobs' button of P2K.
6. When it says 'Please disconnect testpoint', remove the wire from the testpoint (but battery still connected), click 'Ok'.

If no error message after step 5 or 6, your phone is just unlocked. Disconnect the battery. If any error, you have to repeat 1 to 6 again (may be testpoint or battery connection was disconnected briefly as you do not have 6 hands!)

Now you have to repair PDS for proper activity of the phone:
7. Run P2K Easy Tool (version 3.9)
a) go to Repair tab
b) select phone model: V3r
c) check box - Full repair PDS...
(Do NOT click anything else)
Do the step 2 to 6 again. (if any error, you have to repeat 7, 2 to 6 again). So your unlocked phone is ready to use. Note that, your boot loader is downgraded to 0A.30 (if you had anything else).

Reassemble the mobile!

BTW, delete previous backup (which is for locked phone) and make new backup for future use.

while grounding tiny testpoint. I used a niddle with the wire. Testpoint is the upper soldered point of the component, NOT the whole componet

I have been trying to read as much as I can and understand on my own for the past few days, but need some info verified before I begin.

I have a Cingular Razr (dont know which model, how can i find out?) and am trying to get it unlocked so it can work with my old AT&T blue SIM.
AT&T took my IMEI but later on told me they cant give me the unlock code because my old SIM is no longer supported on the new devices. what a bunch of BS!

In your instructions on page 1 of this thread, step 6 asks you to use the Motorola_Unlocker_2005.zip . ? Is this still valid since its from 2005?

Secondly is the unlocker an alternate to using the p2k easy tool, which you have recommended in a few threads. I searched for that but cant seem to find which version of the p2keasy tool i should use.?

So far I have understood this much:

1. Get RSD Lite (Obtained RSD Lite v4.1, havent installed yet)
2. Flash using RSD lite with file: "bl_826-828_to_07d0_for_V3_by_Archy.V2.shx"
(btw, i also found another flash file: "apristel_premod_mp_v1_c.rar" would that be better?)
3. Run Motorola_Unlocker OR P2K Easy Tool to Unlock.?
(need to figure out which tool to use to actually unlock)

Lastly, before i begin, i read over here that i will need some motorola drivers? which drivers are those.? I currently have a generic usb cable that i use for my canon camera as well and fits into the razr also, a friend told me that the cable is fine.?

Please help, I will really appreciate your response.
I can get it unlocked from a shop but the exercise is very tempting and I would like to do it myself.
