I posted this in another thread but decided to make it it's own thread since it might help you guys out.

I can speak from experience. I have the LG 8100 as my personal phone and the Moto 815 as my company phone. I use them both a lot, probably the motorola a little more.
From my experience, the Motorola does not even come CLOSE to the LG 8100. The 8100 is simply amazing.

Better looking IMO...and a bit smaller.
Easier to use (I hate the 815's CLR button being off to the side, instead of right below the main navigation keys like it is with the LG.)
I think the screen quality is far superior on the LG...especially on the outside screen(that one is obvious) but even on the main screen the LG looks better.
The speakers are superior on the LG.
I get great reception on both...so if you live in a bad area i dont know which would be better.
The MP3 works great on the LG....havent tried it on the e815..but i believe it's there.

Here's my favorite part:
On both phones you can record video clips. On the LG you can set the video clip as a wallpaper on both the main screen and the front screen. So everytime you open your phone or close it you can see moving video clip of your kids, wife, Jlo, whatever. And each screen can be different. The quality is just amazing!!!
I tried this on the Motorola and couldnt do it.
To be fair, since it's my work phone i havent played with all the bells and whistles like I do with the LG, but still I feel there is a big difference.

I hope this helps!
Let me know of any questions on either phone and if I dont know the answer I'll play with them to figure it out.

Now, forget about which phone is cooler. Which phone has better reception, and which phone is more durable?

Man, I drop my cell phone all the time, but not my TV since I don't carry it around...

I just faced the same choice and ended up picking the LG 8100 because:

1. It will play .wma and .mp3, 815 only plays .mp3
2. It seems easier to unlock the things evil verizon locked
3. It has music controls on front
4. front screen is better
5. It has more memory than 815
6. Mini-SD cards are cheaper than microSD and higher capacity are availabe

It was a hard choice, some things I liked better about the 815 were:

1. better reception
2. holds more contacts (not that I will use all the LG)
3. No time limit on video clips
4. better quaility video clips and photos
5. will sync with outlook if you unlock evil verizons limitations

Thanks for all the help cableguynoe...

Do you know if you can turn use the speakerphone with the phone closed? As far as I can tell it has to be open, but I just got it.

Your argument makes no sence. If you carry it around, your going to drop it. There is no one who has never dropped their cellphone.
