i cant take this anymore, im about as messed up as someone can get. i bought the phone for the Mp3 player, and after reading a few forums and doing what seems to be nothing for an entire day (literally) i still am unable to get songs from my computer to my Samsung a920 through that cable.
i've downloaded the PC link 1.0 and it does absolutly nothing, i've fiddled around with the usb drivers, and i've probably done a lot more, im just too pissed to think of them. someone help me, i know some of you got songs onto yourphone with the cable, i want to know how.

Yes, I, too, would like to know how it's done with a cord if at all possible. I'm so broke I can't afford even a $20.00 card reader right now. Eventually I'll get one, but right now I'd like a way to do it without anything but the cord if at all possible. Thanks in advance for any help for those of us who want to use the cord (which I do know others have used as well). I'm a Bell user as well, in case anyone needs to know in order to help me out.

I wish that I had searched this site before buying an a920. In speaking with Data Support at Bell Mobility, the a920 data cable is only for modem purposes and is not intended to be used for transferring music to the 1gig card that came with my phone. Apparently I need to buy a card reader. The software suggested by others did not work for me.

Hi i just got a SPH-a920. i had no trouble putting mp3s on the phone with the micro sd card but i was wondering if i could set these songs to be ringtones. I really dont see why you wouldn't be able to because the phone can play mp3s anyways so it doesnt seem like it would have been that much more work for them to let you set them as ring tones. Anyways if someone could let me know if this is possible and if so how to go about doing it, it would be much apreciated.
thanx

Well i have had an a920 for about 7 months now and when i got it i quickly gave up on adding contacts with the software that i found online *I did not want to pay for any of them* so i added it all by hand. as for mp3's the fore mentioned SD card reader is the only way to do this, the bell store i got my phone had one for $25 but i just borowed my friends from his camra. deatils in a post on page 2 or 3 on adding them to a file called "media" or what not works well. tho you have to have the tracks named with out numbers befor them or you will play all #1 tracks and then all #2 and so on so if your like me and have a gig of CD's on there its hard to get in the grove when your skiping around on the albums like that. as for ringtones, dont bother thay are a specile format and you dont have accsess to it on your phone even if you did convert the mp3 into the right format, i have tryed and its a no go downloading it into your phone with out doing so over your wireless network, the same you would any other ringtone.
I would like to know if there is any way to increase the 30's cap on the camcorder? i have been through the phone and manual as well as a few other forums to no avale:(
but i'm still doing just fine with my phone, cant wait for the 2gig miniSD to come out:P

If i converted the mp3s to the format they need to be in then is there an online service somewere that would alow you to send them via text message or something so that it could be on the phone hard drive instead of the micro cd? I'm not sure if that would even be the way to get it as a ring tone but im not quite ready to give up just yet.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Hi:
i have both the samsung sph-a920 phone and the nokia 6126.
the samsung will work with the usb cable as a high speed modem attached to your laptop. this requires a software package from bell mobility. this software will not let you load the phone book or mp3's to your phone.
i bought the datapilot software package which comes with usb cables and usb drivers for the samsung a920. with a bell mobility phone it will only let me upload/download the phonebook from the phone to the computer. the same phone with sprint or verizon service has more features enabled. so, bell seems to have crippled the phone.
the only way to load mp3s to your phone was as previously stated - plug in the micro sd / transflash card into a card reader on your computer and load them that way.
on the other hand, nokia provides a complete software suite (free for download on their website) for their phones. so now i hate my a920 because samsung does not support it with software

Hi
I'm new to the fourm
I think that the only program you need for most "CDMA" phones is a program called "BITPIM"
and you can find it by searching the word "BITPIM" on google.
The program is 100% free. I think it is open source and is hosted on "surgeforce" or something
and
2 you need the PC usb cable which the retailers at bell and telus and other providers will tell you is only for conecting to internet which is some bullsit.
How do you know if your phone is a cdma phone? you ask? well if when you signed up for service and the retailer gave you a memory card that goes behind the battery and it has 4 or 5 rows of numbers on it and when you get a new phone you insert that card into the new phone to transfer your phone number and account to the new phone. than your phone is a GSM phone not a CDMA phone.
If your phone came with a memory card or you bought one seperate or no card at all than you phone is a "CDMA" phone. These are diferant than the card discribed above and are discused below.
These cards can store songs and video and pics. These cards can come in diferent storage sizes ,128mb, 256mb, 512mb, 1Gig, 2Gig, and are either Tranflash Scandisk or some other genaric brand. They are not requierd to operate the phone but are used to store songs video and photos. And are the cause of a lot of confusion and furusteration since most phones wont let you use the songs on the card as ringtones and that is because the phone companys want you to buy the ringtones from them.
And back to the begining
The BITPIM software will access the phones ""Internal"" memory where the rintones and othe neet stuff are stored no memory card needed.
The software comes with instructions on how to use it.
(BITPIM can be used with most any brand cdma phone)
So all you need is the PC usb cable for your phone and BITPIM
I hope this post is helpfull and not to long winded.
