For my 2¢, the miniSD card is the greatest addition to the phone as a storage device for MP3's, ringtones, pictures, etc. It's easy to access through a card reader and my PC to add ringtones, pictures, MP3's etc which can then be "moved" via the phone into phone memory if that's where you'd want them.

So, are you saying that I can access content on my miniSD and use it for ringtones? How can I do this? I seem only to be able to assign ringtones from the internal memory ringtone library.
Thanks for all the great help!

I just got this phone and I am getting the mp3 to work sort of. I can copy the music into the correct folders, but not all of them show up on my phone. I've got 13 songs all in the same MY_MP3 folder but only 5 of them show up and play. They are all the same .mp3 extension. Is there a bit rate or size requirment that i'm missing.
I should mention that I'm using a 1gb miniSD card so I do have plenty of room.
Thanks for any help in advance

Think i figured it out. I believe the filename cannot exceed a certain number of characters. I shortened some of my filenames and they seem to be working now.

Ok I have had the lg 8100 for a week now and I jus got a 1gb mini sd card today. I put the sd card into the card reader on my computer and put the music in the mp3 file like everyone has said. It shows up in the my mp3 file but it won't play in the music library cuz it says "player error music is not available" Its a "07" and it should be able to play music right. and I already enabled .mp3 so that should work is there anything else I could do? please help me I really want this to work.

I have software version 4, and have succesfully transferred my selection of non-currupted mp3 files onto my correctly formatted mini SD card, into the the correct folder. However, when I then insert the card into my phone and attempt to play the files, only a small number of them play, the rest do not play, but still appear on the list of songs. Is there something wrong with these files that must be changed in order for them to actually play in the phone? I have not found any consistancies between the non working files, or the working files. I also am sure that they are not corrupted in anyway because they all play perfectly on my computer from the card and my computers hard drive. Thanks to all in advance for your help!

Same problem, have a 2G sd card and loaded 410 songs....everything copy'd fine via sd card reader, but when I view the list of tunes on my phone it only shows 241 songs?
I know the songs are there on my card, I tried playing the songs off the card on my PC and they worked fine.
It seems the 2gig card is the problem. Before this problem I was able to get all the songs to show up , but only half would play. The others gave me media errors.
Also got bitpim yesterday to make my own ringtones and it works like a charm. Is there any way to transfer my songs via bitpim? Nothing will show up except the norm:
address book
contacts
ringers
sms
wallpaper.....etc
but no music

well i've read that inorder to get that 2gb back you have to use Swissknife and format it elsewhere besides in my phone (course other's tell me i sudn't have formatted in my phone in the first place, then agian i never knew...) ...i've tried formatting it but it won't let me cuz apparently the card is what...write prottected? even the computer only reads it as 1 gb...which blows...
if only there were fast simple solutions to this issue...
