so should I upgrade my firmware? and if I do will it delete all the things I have put on there myself?

If i'm right it won't affect your settings and installed stuff.
But be sure that you should make a backup bacause you never now

Well I think that when the firmware is being installed, the phones memory is deleted fully, and then they put on a new firmware. So I'd recommend backing up yor stuff.
