Basically, I have the phone, a data cable, and more computers to count but I don't have any friggin software. Will someone please tell me what magic keyword opens up Google to find these dang programs. Thanx in advance.

Tautegu:

"opening jar file ..... [failed]"

You normally get this error message when the JAR files is not linked up properly by the JAD file. Either there's a problem with the MIDlet URL attributes or the MIDlet Size attributes.

Okie, here's a basic summary of what a JAR and JAD file is:

JAR= This is where the "exe" part of the app is, it contains everything that is needed for the application to run. All your graphics, sound, compiled source codes are in there.

JAD= This is a Java Descriptor file. This file does nothing to the application internally. We have this file around so that when you download, it will first show you first what you are downloading together with all the necessary details such as bytes size and filename etc.

Baer,

Try "Midway" and "Motorola PST".

Cheers.

I've searched up and down google and can't find either Motorola PST or Midway for download. Could you post any URLs you might have on hand that link to a site where I can download the programs?

Hello,
I have used PST and Midway succefully before upgarding my E398 to store messages on phone. Now I have
Flex Version: GSKE398T672EG096
S/W Version: R372_G_0E.20.8ER
DSP S/W Version: 62202000

Now if I connect my phone to the computer thr' USB port, windows detects it as "USB storage device" and shows a drive for it. It's no more shown as "Motorola USB modem". I tried disabling the "USB storage device", but still windows detects it as "USB storage device"(but disabled).

In PST(6.7_General) File->New kjava file... "Read data from phone" it gives me error saying "Phone not connected. Please connect and power up the phone".

Also "Motorola Phone Tools" can not detect my phone now.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks,
Girish

I solved my problem!
On phone Menu->Settings-Connection->USB Settings change default USB connection from "Memory Card" to "Data/Fax Connection". Connect the phone to the PC, now it is detected as a "Motorola USB Modem". And then PST and Midway could detect it... and I could transfer Java Apps to the phone.

But there seems to be some weird limit on max. number of Java apps (30) that can be installed on the phone... is there any way aound to increase this limit? I have a E398.

Thanks.

Girish

I got it to work! This is awesome! I knew that there was a way to get games and stuff onto my phone w/o having to pay for them, or download them via WAP, but didn't know exactly how to do it. Now I want to know how I can change the startup and shutdown animations, and add ringtones! And if at all possible, see how much space is on my phone, and what all is there, then remove them easier... icon_cool.gif

Go into your PST config and setting turn it to manual and choose your port from 1 to 8 if that not work you just have to go to system on your pc and then devices manager then modem and try to remove the modem that you are not using at the time and then hit refresh the pc will now put your fone modem on the aom port that you have just remove. Hope this help cheer icon_smile.gif
