I have a few questions about T Mobile and about cellphone carriers in general. I've never owned a cellphone and I know how sometimes companies phrase things in a tricky way to try and confuse or mislead you, then you get screwed with a huge bill.
| Quote: | Rate plan: Get More $39.99 per month
Services: CallerTunes $1.49 per month
Services: Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile $6.99 per month
Services: Any 400 Messages $4.99 per month |
That's my current plan...
My question is...what is a roaming charge? Is that when I make a call out of state? I live in Massachusetts, so if I was in Rhode Island made a call, would that be roaming? How do you know what 'area' is roaming and what isn't?
What exactly does unlimited mobile to mobile mean? If I call someone who has T-Mobile as their provider, does it still get subtracted from my 600 anywhere minutes?
Do my minutes get used if someone calls me? (don't laugh, I'm new at this, lol)

- you have no roaming unless you go outside the USA
- if you get a call from another t-mo customer, it won't come out of your minutes. any call from any other provider will.
- yes. incoming calls are deducted from your minutes, unless it is mobile to mobile or nights and weekend minuets.-

Thanks for the replies. That's kind of what I thought but I wanted to really be sure...I don't want to be one of those idiot consumers slammed with a huge bill and then complain that I didn't read all the agreements so it's not my fault.
One more question, I can't find an answer on the T Mobile site since I can't log in yet, the phone is still being shipped...
If I didn't sign up for wireless internet with my plan (it's $9.99 and I figured I'd almost never ever use it), can I still send photos taken with my phone to other cellphones or email addresses? Without the internet? Does it count towards a text message or something? Or is that something totally different I need to sign up for? Because I did sign up for 400 text messages.

multimedia messages (picute messages) do not fall under text messages, you will be charged an additional rate. without a data plan, you'll still have the ability to do it, but you'll be charged on a per-use basis.

I might add that E-mail is considered text messaging and I was charged for each E-mail I received...ouch! I stopped my internet service since I only used it for E-mail. When I had a Blackberry, I never was charged for E-mail, plus with their "push", I always knew when, and how many E-mails I had without having to go into the internet. Now I have a Samsung T809 (which I love), but no more E-mail.

With their unlimited message plan for $14.99/month, you get unlimited text, picture text and video text if you have video. That's what I have, so I make sure I send pictures and videos.
I believe it's a good package. But only get it if you text ALOT!
