My still camera on my VX8100 won't stop malfunctioning. It seems to have an annoying delay in taking a picture after I press the OK button. The delay's at least 2 secons long, or more. I really don't think it's always been like that, although my friends tell me that i'm hallucinating. This is a real problem if I want to take quick photos without having to keep my camera still for ages. This problem's worth taking it to the Verizon store for diagnosis, that is unless anyone here knows what it is. Any help??/

2 second delay is normal. I hate to say this, but if you want to take quick pictures u need a camera...a good camera.

Once you understand the shutter delay and learn to live with it, the VX8100 camera does a fair job. I have printed pretty good 4 x 6 prints from well lighted indoor photos. Much better than the older "cellphone standard" photos. I save on the miniSD disk, put them in printing software and print on my HP Inkjet printer on photo paper.

ok...I found out that if you press "clear" after taking the picture it does decrease that 1-2 second lag....
so you wont have to worry about moving your hand while the phone is still thinking....

make sure your software version is 07
go to menu
settings and tools
system
device info
sw version
under heading sw version
check last two numbers
if its less than 7 then you need a software upgrade and you can do that for free at a verizon store

I have new 8100 w/v7 - not even a full second delay MOST of the time - even on highest resolution. I think slowest was 640x480 fully zoomed.

I prefer to *NOT UPGRADE* from Version 04 to Version 07. With 04, I'm able to load MP3's and Ringtones directly to my miniSD card without manipulation of the phone's file system, and I don't lose my MP3's and RingTones when I cycle the phone off (as in Version 07). For the convenience of custom RingTones and ease of MP3 files, I will stay with Version 04.
With Version 04, my card reader and PC, I simply load MP3's into the MY_MP3 folder on the SD card, and the Ringtones into a Ringtone folder I created. For me, this is the EASY WAY and I can't see Version 07 advantages.
