My V551 has been doing fine, even though I have the usual V551 short battery life (36 hours or so). Took my phone out with me when I went skiing, when I got home it was on 2 bars of battery, so I charged it all night. Took it to work in the morning, and when I checked it around lunchtime, the phone was completely turned off. I didn't get any low battery beeps or anything. The phone wouldn't turn on, so I put it on my charger at work, and it started charging and would turn on. Apparently the battery was completely drained. On the work charger, it charged fully in about 10 minutes, weird. Took it off the charger, and it completely turned off again within 5 minutes. It'll go from showing 3 battery bars to turning off instantly. I figured the battery just must be bad, so I went ahead and ordered another OEM battery off ebay. Is this the right way to go? Do you think it's just a bad battery? I had checked the connections, and they were clean. Also, does anyone think me taking it skiing have anything to do with it? It was anywhere from 30-36 degrees F that day. Thanks for any insight you can give me.

On the v3 you sometimes need to do the "battery fix" not sure about the V551 but I guess you can try.
Run the phone until it goes flat and dies
Remove battery for 5 mins
Replace battery (don't turn it on tho)
Charge overnight with phone off

I took it to work today, and it had died on the way, so I took the battery out for 5 minutes and then put it back in and charged it without turning it on. After about 1 minute, it said charge complete. I took it off the charger, and it worked for about 15 minutes before completey dying again. Should I just leave it on the charger for hours even after it says charge complete?

Thanks for the help, but I think it might be another problem. I didn't have time to charge it overnight, since it's my only phone, but I took the battery out for 5 minutes, put it and and charged it with the phone off for about 5 hours, and it's still doing the same thing. Even if I leave the phone plugged in and make a call, the battery will go down to zero bars. Then after the call is finished and I hang up, it recharges fully in about 20 seconds. I sure hope my new battery does the trick. Anyone else seen this before?

Well, I believe the problem is solved, and the problem seems to have been caused by a loose power connector internally. I noticed that the phone would be fine until I moved it around, so I gave it a good shake, and now it's fine. Kinda weird. I'm guessing it got shaken up bad from skiing. Thanks again for your help.
