Hello
I have nokia 6600.After installing themes,I am not able to open picture messages(.ota files already stored in phone memory). It is giving message:Unknown File Format.
There is another problem.I have some MP3 songs in my mobile of size 600 - 700KB.I have set an Mp3 song as ring tone.During an incoming call first of all,mp3 song is played but after few seconds nokia tone(already present in mobile) starts playing during the same incoming call. That Mp3 song should be played for the complete duration untill other person disconnects, but (Mp3 song + nokia tone) gets played as a ringtone...I am not able to get its solution.
Plz help me regarding these problem...as soon as possible
thanx a lot
regards
mamta

The 6600 doesn't supports mp3s as ringtone, I'm surprised it will played at all. You should use PC Suite for 6600 to convert mp3s to .wav-files which will be much smaller in the end (they use another codec than normal wav-files).
Are you sure it is the theme that make the trouble with the picture message?

Hello
thanx a lot for ur instant reply..
Actually I installed plugins also in my nokia 6600,therfore mp3 songs are playing in my phone. But these files are of size 600 - 700 KB only....But why this mp3 song does not get played for the complete duration of incoming call? Will this problem be solved by converting them to wav files.
I searhced on google also about the problem of .ota files. At one website I found this reason: of Themes. And I've also installed themes and getting same problem. But on that website I couldn't get the solution for first problem of .ota files..Plz give me some solution I dont want to format my memory card for third time...Or is there any other reason for picture message's problem.Coz Before installation of plugins, themes etc. and when I remove memory card from nokia 6600 phone and use phone, my phone shows picture messages properly.
Is it safe to format memory card again and again?
thanx

Three possibilities:
a) the plugin is faulty
b) you've installed the plugin on the MMC and not on your phones memory.
c) you ringtone is on your MMC
Bu I would say it's more likely c)
Why?
Because it's proven that ringtones saved on the MMC most time won't play properly because the card will be set in some kind of stand-by. When sombody calls you, the phone has to wake the card, but it reacts so slow that the phone thinks the ringtone is gone and plays the default one instead.
Or sometimes like in your case: some part of the ringtone which is set and than changes to the default ringtone.
I would recommend to convert the mp3s to wav-files because the phone naturally supports them.
But don't just convert them. The default codec for wav-files is PCM. This is uncompressed audio, huge amount of data.
Either you use "PC Suite for Nokia 6600" for transfering the mp3s, PC Suite can be set to convert the files while transfering to a supported and small wav-file.
Or you use a audio edtiting tool which allows you to select the codec which is used for the wav-file. The correct codec is IMA ADPCM. Also you should select mono, the file will be a bit smaller.
You can format your memory card several hundret times without damaging it.
Well, it could be a combination of apps or only one app or themethe cause for the problem.
I would try to eleminate the possibilities by installing the stuff and check each time if something happens to the picture messages.
Have you tried resetting/reformatting you phone? Maybe there is something faulty and the fault is triggert by one of you apps/themes to happen.

Mp3 can be played on 6600 with a help of little codec
How to do
1. We can use mp3 files as a ringtone for nokia 6600 by installing
mp3 codecs such as MP3OggWMA Codec 6600.sis, and don't need to
upgrade firmware at all (It's work with any firmware version:p )
2. Just trim a clip of music u wanna use it as a ringtone.
Important !! it's must save in Joint stereo 128 bits 44100 KHz
See attached files:p MP3 Joint Stereo 128 setting U can make
it by Db PowerAmp Music Converter or another converter.
3. How 's the 6600 accepted the files.It 's just a piece of cake.
Nokia 6600 will accepted the files when it has id3v2 tag.
How to create id3v2 tag
3.1Use Media players such as jet audio import file to album, right click on the file and choose "edit tag"
just click on "also write idv2 tag" and write the title name as u like
Finish !! Enjoy mp3 and make urs MMC much more space by deleting huge wave files.
if u get in 6600 that "application will not work" don't quit the installation
and intall it in phone mem
make sure that u copy ur mp3 files in sound folder in 6600
