did you backup your firmware with the correct backup ranges? if not that could be your problem. If you try to flash back to the backup with the wrong ranges your phone phone turn on. happens to me once when i use these ranges;
try removing the battery, putting it back in, and turning it on.
worked for me.

Mmm i dono what happend.. i made a copy of the original backup and was going to edit it some with a hex editor... and then i saved it and did everything right i think .. .and then i flashed the phone with the new firmware... the phone didn't work so i flashed it back to my backup and that worked... just wondering why .. or maby .. can you edit the text in the menus? or wont it be "flashable"?
and also.. hmmm when i backed up my phone i used the settings:
0x00000000 - 0x00ffffff
cause right me if i'm wrong, but thats the Whole phone from start to stop?

Maybe you simply have a corrupt Flash File..
Try either downloading again or another version.
Yes 0-$ffffff could be considered ALL of it but there DEFINITELY is wasted space there.
Some of that area is part of the eeprom and used like static ram, other parts are NOT used at all.
I havent ever found a Memory Map for the v20x series... But comparing it to one from a S105 its appears very close and there are quite a few areas in the s105 map that ARE UNUSED
Some areas are listed as 'Calibration' not sure what data is contained there and if its write protected... (I know w/some Nokia's that a portion of the eeprom area is TRUELY CALIBRATION data for that specific phone and if you overwrite it you just Re-calibrated your phone to an unknown spec.)
Using the current 0-1fff , 4-ffffff is definitely sufficient though
