BigRUSS:
I've had to cool my jets.
I apologize, I was being narrow minded and childish.
Your right, I should have been listening to what y'all were saying (and what I myself was saying). I do have limited experience with cell phones overall and should respect the knowledge and experience that's behind y'all's postings.
After I all, I am still very much a newbie.
---
That being said,... this GPRS indicator thing, is it something that could possibly be fixed OTA, or does it have to be done in person by a technician?
And since it does not seem to have been a problem, or have caused any problems thusfar, is it really something that should be fixed right away or would it be okay to leave the phone as is? B/c it can still connect to mMode just fine when it needs to.

i think it is funny when people come in here and ask questions of cs rep's and tech reps we post answers how to fix or correct the problem or how to get a replacment device for issues then they want to argue with you. But what makes it worse is when other reps don't believe you exp when calling to other departments. I am in tech i had to transfer a cust to xbm and the rep wanted to argue with me that it was not the phone it was a service issue. Like i didn't know what i was talking about would you not listen to a Tier II tech support rep when they say equipment problem not a service issue as we work on services issues 100% of the time when we are online

the only other real option is you can try swaping out the sim card but IMO it sounds like a phone issue/faulty device , can only be resolved by replacing it

Cingular is providing service for existing AT&T accounts but not supporting the existing AT&T contracts with equipment. My AT&T phone was lost or stolen on April 4 2006. I called Cingular and was told they will not supply another phone. They said my options are to move my phone service for this number to Cingular and buy a new phone or purchase a used AT&T phone wherever I could find one. The problems with switching my service to Cingular is that I have three phones, a compatible Cingular service plan cost more than my current AT&T plan and the Cingular plan is not competitive with other providers I have researched. My AT&T contract is good until Nov. 2006 so they have me at a disadvantage. There is an added grievance to this issue. I found an AT&T compatible phone on Wednesday 4/19/06 as they told me to do. Before I purchased the phone I called Cingular with the ID numbers for the phone and the customer service rep told me the phone will work and that they will send a new sim card out that day. I paid for freight and waited. On Monday 04/24/06 I called to track the shipment. I was told it should arrive no later than Wednesday 04/26/06. I still did not have the phone on the 26th so I called Cingular again. During this call I was told the sim card had not shipped. They said the order was written up wrong. The paperwork was redone and I paid for freight again. On Friday the 28 I called to check. Again I was told the card had not shipped. We reordered the card agian and I was told it would ship that day, Friday the 28th. On Monday 05/01/06 I called to check on the shipment. Once again the card had not shipped. The first two times they charged me for freight but I am supposed to see a full credit on my phone bill. How can Cingular buy my contract but not be required to service my account with quality service and equipment? How can they hold me to my contract but not service the contract unless I pay for a costlier contract. The way Cingular is handling the purchase of AT&T is to strong hand AT&T customers into buying one of their programs.
Thank You,
John Hoffner

as a courtesy singular allowed you to keep using you current phone and plans legally they could have forced yall a month after the buyout and those that didn’t change they could have cut you off,
for those of you complaining about dropped calls ect its the same network nothing really has changed even the former att employees now work for cingular, so you have no excuse there either
buyouts happen yea sometimes they suck but its a part of business and life grow up and deal with it |
well Cingular is gonna be bye bye soon that that the New AT&T(aka SBC) owns all of Cingular. here comes AT&T Wireless again |
Actually Cingular is changing it's name to ATT World

For example: I am on Cingular .. in Northern NJ Passaic County .. well populated ... while my phone supports
internet, I have Never Seen the Internet Service Available Icon nor have I ever been able to use internet ... I don't think it will work until either GPRS or 3G is added to the towers where I am at. As to Cingular going back to be AT&T Wireless .. hopefully we won't be
changing technology again .. just the splash screen |
Only thing changing is the name... same phones (different logo), same towers, same billing system, etc..

I would head into a store and make sure the internet (wix) is active on for your mobile number. It may just be a missing code in the feature field in our system. If you'd like, you can PM me your number and I'll see what's up with it.

I'm a bit confused. I live in Oklahoma and a year or so ago, AT&T Wireless dissolved into Cingular in our area. So, is Cingular going to change to AT&T or is AT&T going to change to Cingular? I wish they'd make up their minds!! My contract is up in a few months and I'm trying to decide whether to stay with Cingular or not.
Thanks |
It's switching to ATT World, but that's the only thing changing. Everything else will be the same.
