Here's the story. Today I've been receiving phone calls like crazy, all of which are listed as 'withheld' on my phone. I'm receiving these calls every 10 minutes or so and have no idea who it is. When I pick up, it's the same thing everytime..sounds like a fast recording of a harmonica or something..and then it stops and then it restarts and then it hangs up...every time. I tried to log in to my cingular account online to see if it would list it there, but the my account section is currently down.
What's best course of action here? I had to turn off my phone because it woke me up a couple of times.
Thanks,
Kevin

The only thing you can do and it may be a pain to you is get you number change due to harrassing phone calls

There are also many phones which allow you to select which callers ring through. On my phone, for instance, I can choose to allow only people on my contact list to ring through. So you might want to consider a different phone that allows selective ringing if changing your phone number isn't an option for you.

Would there be any way to find out who this number is? I'd really like to find out. I haven't received any so far today, soooo maybe they've stopped.

Damn. The reason I can't put a stop to anonymous calls altogether is because my mom's number sometimes comes up as anonymous (there's a problem with something somewhere). Also, I use this phone for business discussions and sometimes the clients have their plans set to always dial anonymously.

Your initial post states the sound is like a harmonic pitch. Sounds like a fax transmission. Could it be someone or some business got hold of your number by accident and think its a fax line? Are the calls coming in at random time or it has been constant?

Nope...not harmonic like a modem...harmonica...sounds like a recording of a harmonica being played except, it's sped up just a bit.

I have gotten the same thing, only it was a weird recorded voice that asked me a disturbing question. I have been getting these calls for about a month now. E-mail me by clicking my profile info and we'll see if we can figure out a common reason.
