Is there a way to move the old startup/shutdown graphics to the v200 firmware from the v205? I personally hate butterflies when I turn it on, I liked the T-Mobile animation. Also, is there a way to get the old wallpaper and T-Mobile sound? I have the old firmware, I think I heard something about an editing program somewhere too.

TIA.

(BTW, I updated to the v200 F3 firmware, it's nicer looking, but I do kinda miss some things icon_sad.gif )

If you have a copy of the v205 flash you want the images from using a tool called 'Samsung DIY' you will be able to extract and import the specific images between the flash files.

You could use the Samsung DIY software to replace the pictures that are used for the startup and shutdown but there is one problem with that. You would need a picture table from a branded copy of the firmware to extract the pictures that you want to use and another picture table for the F3 firmware so you can replace what you want to. I haven't seen any of those around. There are copies of the E5 and E8 picture tables but I don't know how or if they differ from the F3 firmware. In the E5 picture table the startup butterfly pictures are from 138 to 158 and the shutdown pictures are from 075 to 092. You could try to ask for someone to create a picture table from the branded firmware and the F3 and hope for some assistance.

The second option would be to flash your phone with a V200 version of the T-Mobile branded firmware such as V20BOWC4. The problem with that is you lose the small size font that you have with the F3 firmware.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm looking for the DIY software now. Now about the picture tables. do I really need them? or could I go find the pictures in the image itself? Also, where can I get the V20BOWC4 firmware that you speak of?

You can find the DIY software on the following website that Blueboy started: http://samsungv200.mysite.freeserve.com/

As far as the picture tables go I haven't found a way in DIY to open the picture table of the loaded firmware file. Unlike the ringtone there isn't a search process that gets all of the addresses of the pictures from the file. The only options that you have on the picture replace tab is open pic table or save pic table. If you click open it takes you to the file management window to select the picture file that you want to open.

Okay, here's a link to the V20BOWC4 firmware. http://www.leies.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=262

You will get an error when you click this link that tells you that you need to register before you can download from this area. Go to the registration page and enter a ID for yourself a valid email address and then your password twice. You will then get an email that you can click on a link in the email to activate your account. You will then be able to get the file. Now the challenge will be to understand the language on the site. It's not in english. If I remember right the first box on the registration page will be where you enter an ID for yourself, the second box is for your email address and then the next two boxes are for your password and second entry to verify the password. While it sounds complicated it isn't too bad.

So basically I'm SOL on the finding images in the V25UVVL2 and V20BDXF3 firmwares? How does one go about making a picture table? Sorry if I'm being bothersome, I really like the F3 firmware, but want my T-Mobile customizations icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks again

edit: and I can't figure out how to install DIY 3.2, is there a password for the installer? The crack has no instructions

Not really.. Unfortunately it will just take a little bit of time since theres not a ready to go tool or table.

If you would like to do it yourself it can be done with the help of a Hex Editor along with Samsung DIY.

Not sure how familiar with a hex editor you are.. if your not what images do you want specifically and I will extract them for you and email them to you.. Of course dont give me a list of 100images! icon_smile.gif

O forgot these are the instructions taken DIRECTLY from the Readme that came with the crack. I did not write these instructions so I'm not taken credit for it LOL.

1) Install the program (the full version, you can get it here: http://yqused.myetang.com/download/register/SAMSUNG_DIY-V3.2-Full.exe ----> password to install: "http://yqused.myetang.com/"
2) Choose a Floppy disk, put it into your driver (A:/)
3) Format the disk
4) Extract SAMSUNG DIY Crack.zip into 1 Folder
5) Insert the Formated floppy disk into drive A:/, Execute Floppy.bat
6) Remove Floppy Disk and REINSERT it into drive A:/
7) Copy Samsung.ini and replace it with the original one in C:/Program Files/SAMSUNG DIY Full
icon_cool.gif ALWAYS Leave that Floppy Disk inside drive A while you run "Samsung DIY v3.2"
9) Enjoy, and thanks me

Well, I do know how to use a hex editor. If I convert the firmware into a bin file, do I open that in the hex editor? if you could just give me a small intro into what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate it.

The images I'm trying to change are alot, but if I can't figure it out...
I'm mainly looking to change the startup animation, the shutdown animation, and the text message animation (they're too fruity looking in the v200 firmware.) Also, I'm trying to do this in the F3 firmware, so I suppose I'd have to locate in both since neither have tables around.

I really appreciate how helpful people are around here. I've only been here a couple days, and there's a wealth of information.
