hi i recently purchased an unlocked samsung x426 off ebay. When the phone arrived i tried putting in my FIDO (canada) sim card and it was rejected. I then tried entering a friends Rogers sim and it worked perfectly. Upon trying another fido sim it was once again rejected. Anyone know how to explain this? is it possible that the phone was unlocked for just rogers but not fido? It is originally an at&t wireless phone.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

My guess is the phone was flashed with a locked Rogers' firmware. If what I suspect is correct, the phone is locked to Rogers right now. You may have to unlock the phone again. Do a search on the forum as there are a lot of posts on how to unlock X426.

I checked, and the phone gives me a message saying "warning: phone not yet personalised" would this not mean the phone is unlocked?

Are you trying the unlock codes? According to the following thread:
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic17980.html
It is not recommended to use unlock codes for rev. 1.6 or newer as it may lock the phone. You should use data cable and unlock software to unlock the phone. If you don't want to invest on the data cable, you can consider the unlock service by cellphone accessories stores at a small fee.
If you want to try the data cable approach, get the PCB093LBE from ebay. Don't buy the usb one as it is not good for unlocking.

no, i think u misuderstoon my question, i BOUGHT this phone off ebay unlocked, it is technically unlocked...(say not personalized), but it will not accept my , or any other persons FIDO SIM, but i tried it on a friends T-MOBILE from detroit and it worked, and i tried it with rogers sim's here in canada and it worked. ....just not fido..
Since rogers owns FIDO and they are now the same network...this makes no sense to me

I see. I have no clue why it works in T-Mobile and Rogers but not Fido. According to your information, my earlier suspicion won't hold. However, I don't think there is anything special on Fido SIM as my Fido SIM can work on unlocked Rogers' phone. Try search for personalized as I believe there are a lot of posts for personalizing the SIM.
