How do you use your MP3s as ring tones?

I just got a LG VX9800 and i'm having trouble using my own ringtones. Is there a way to use ringtones i make? I can get the files onto my computer but they only go to "My Sounds" and i can't set them as ringtones.

they go straight to my sounds because you have a vcast capable phone and verizon put a block on all vcast capable phones. Verizon caught on to customers doing that . the only way to get around it is to buy the data cable for your phone and go through bitpim.org
