Hi there,
I thought I'd pass this on. I bought a T-Mobile SDA last week, and I've been enjoying it, despite the fact that it doesn't play too nicely with my macintosh. I did get it connected as a Bluetooth modem, which has been excellent, and the WiFi works great.
However, there is one problem with GPRS internet access that T-Mobile is aware of but doesn't have a fix for. If I connect to the internet via GPRS, and then disconnect (to take a call, use another phone function, etc.), I can't reconnect to the internet without turning off/on the phone. It's kind of a pain. Even switching between IE and the MSN Mobile (i.e., Hotmail) will cause errors, and if I want to use one or the other, I have to restart the phone.
Anyway, I thought I'd pass it on, and if anyone does happen to know of a fix, great. Cheers!

Hi,
This is my first post here, but I just got the MDA yesterday and I didn't think that it would work with my Macintosh. The sales person said that it wouldn't. Did you say you were able to connect to the internet using your phone and your mac? If so please let me know how you did it.
Thanks.

Here's a post that tells you how to do it. It's pretty simple, but beware that you may have to turn the phone off/on in order to connect:

You won't be able to use iSync (or Bluetooth file transfer, either), but the modem will work great.

Thanks for the response. I just tried it and it did work great. It took a few minutes but it got it to work. Do you know how or where do i get different programs for this device and how do I get it on to the phone.
Thanks again

Getting the programs isn't too hard; you just have to search online for "smartphone programs" or "windows mobile 5 software" or similar. As for getting it on your phone, that's trickier. If you can get bluetooth file transfer working with your mac, then you can transfer .cab files (which are normally available as the software download) to the phone and run them with File Explorer on the device. The easier way is to us a PC and ActiveSync, but if you only have a Mac, that's a problem. There is another option I've found, but it is a bit involved (and it involves being on a WiFi network with your computer and your phone):
1) Get a copy of "Total Commander" on the phone (you can get the .CAB file here: http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdphone.cab )
2) Get the .CAB file on your phone. You may have to use a PC for this, unless you can e-mail it to yourself as an attachment. Hotmail won't download .CAB files to the phone because it thinks they are viruses (stupid Hotmail...).
3) Use Total Commander to "ftp" to your Mac, which you have to set up as an FTP server. Once you do this, you can basically browse your Mac's hard drive and copy files back and forth.
As I said, it's involved, but it does work.

T-Mobile appears to be having issues with GPRS/EDGE internet connectivity on most SDA and MDA phones. If anyone has signed up the for the internet service on their phone -- and eventually had to call in to technical support and had them fix your issue, please post your experience.

Hey all,
I found a sort-of workaround for the GPRS bug talked about in this thread. When the GPRS stops connecting to the internet, instead of turning the phone completely off, you can go to the comm manager, deactivate the phone (putting it into "Flight Mode"), and then reactivate it. It essentially serves the same function as turning it off -- the drivers or whatever that control GPRS are reloaded -- but it saves you a few seconds in splash screens and boot up theatrics.
Hope this helps.
