Tell me what it say when in boot loader mode.
Info such as firmware and boot loader.
What did you use to down grade boot loader?
For booting up the volume all you have to do is use motokit or motosound to do so. You don;'t have to downgrade bootloader or anything like that!

I can't get it into any mode. It won't power on. The screen is completely black. I've held down '*#power' for as long as a minute with no response.

To downgrade the boot I went to "hackthev3[dot]com" and then to the Introduction//Start page at "hackthev3[dot]com/before_you_start_modding_motorola_v3[dot]html". About a 1/3rd of the way down that page where it reads "If you have bootloader 08.26...", I downloaded the program called "Scotty2_8.26_downgrader_v2". That's what I used.

I did a full backup to Flash Backup (2006 by Random) before the downgrade. When I click 'restore' Full Backup nothing happens - program freezes. Firmware & flex boxes are empty.

Ok.
Even though that is look black but it is in boot loader mode cause your PC see it.
Google for "motorola software update" to down load thier software update to update your fone but this also will fix it.
Down side is this will lock you to a provider, when you first choose update it will ask the sevice provider of your fone. But we can deal with unlock it after that

OK. I went to moto's support page at 'direct[dot]motorola[dot]com/hellomoto/Motosupport/source/SoftwareUpda teSelect[dot]asp?country=USA&language=ENS

I have ATT which only has the 'MOTO Q9H global' phone in its drop down menu. The menus only have a few phone models for each carrier. Here's the ones that say RAZR or V3, or both;

T Mobile = RAZR V3
Cincinnati Bell = V3
Centennial Wireless = V3
Dobson = RAZR
Sprint = RAZR

Any particular one I should use, or does it matter since we can unlock?

I am having similar problems. Have a Verizon V3m that I tried to flash to Alltel - worked for me a couple of months ago on a different phone, but this one only gets to 67% and FAILs in RSD Lite 4.1. Now it hangs on reboot, but I can put it in flash mode. However, no software RSD or PST 7.2.5 can successfully flash it. The process seems to proceed normally until I get an "Error flashing subscriber unit." Any suggestions on what to try next?

Alltel doesn't show a v3m under the software update. Should I also choose Tmobile?

I checked and USCellular is the first one I found that actually had a v3m - TMobile is only a V3. Should I use the USCellular?

I tried the USCellular, same outcome - no updates for my phone. It says N/A in all three fields on the left.
