yea i figured out that its the original video that is causing the encoding problems. but i sucessfully put alot of my dvds encoded the the memory card. 1 hour takes up about rougly 20-22k on a pretty darn good resolution. i get some breakup here and there and dark shots dont do well.

the only problem im running into, which i dunno if its the video or slvr is about half way thru the movies (about 20-30mins) the phone lags badly, when i press pause or volume change it takes a good 2-3 mins to register.

If you could post your viewing experiance findings after your trip, especially if any audio sync issues creep in then that would be great.

I have noticed that if they are going to happen then the seconds counter in the video player starts to clock up whole seconds faster than an actual steady increment of 1 sec

I haven't had a chance to try anything else with those settings so hope they work out for you.

Let us know how you get on

The movie played fine. I also put several 30min photoshop tv programs on. But one of them had a problem. So it may be that I'm at the hairy edge. I'm going to reduce the audio quality next time.

These movies where at 15fps, I read somewhere that the camera records at 7fps. So more testing......

hey guys

just got my SLVR today and I'm rather smitten... icon_smile.gif

could anybody plz tell a newbie how to configure the video player for horizontal playback? or should I get a different player?

and another thing... I'm from South Africa and Motorola seems to have been so kind as to NOT install iTunes on my phone. anybody know if it could be possible to update the phone software? posted something about it on Moto's webpage today - waiting for their reply.

would appreciate any help!

thx.

I am having the same problem, but its taking about 4minutes to register and at around 15 minutes the video starts getting choppy.

The video starts off just fine with the buttons working and no chopping.

Here are the settings I use in Xilisoft 3gp Converter:
Video Codec: h263
Video Size:176x144
Bit Rate: 256 (anything lower just looks like crap)
Frame Rate: 11 (had to drop from 15 because of sync)
Bit Tolerance:60

Audio Codec:amr_nb
Bit Rate: 48
Sample Rate: 8000
Channels: 1(mono)
Disable Audio: False

Like I said my Slvr will play this video fine, then after 10-15 minutes it will start to get a little choppy, then after 15minutes the crazy buttons kicks in. Any ideas?

You cant get full screen with the built in video player.
I use Xilisoft 3gp Converter and had A/V sync problems as well. But they went away when I changed the Frame Rate Setting from "Auto" to 11.

Same issues, this even happened to my when I uploaded a 2:33 length trailer...I didnt use the converter because it was from a website that had a "mobile" link to download the .3gp file...But, still.

Also, I have been getting the "not enough memory for operation" stuff, i've tried different settings twice now. I havnt tried what Amazingracer said to use, which I am doing now...I hate to keep messing around with this so much - it takes an hour to convert a full length movie to 3gp format! =P The more I mess around the LONGER I wait for my movies icon_smile.gif Any insight on the lagging would be awsome.
