I've been asked to buy a (pink) RAZR in USA to use in South Africa.

I'm now trying to understand the differences between the various models - V3, V3i, V3c, V3x and whether they will work in South Africa.

If anyone can help ?

all (except V3c) will work in South Africa if they have GSM network and if they are unlocked fones
V3 is your standar razr.
V3c is using CDMA technology, no sim card ( not globle frindly)
V3i is razr with i tune and better cammera also have external memories
V3x got 2mpx camera , video conferent better then the rest.

If you are buying for a person you know, that's ok, but let me tell you, there are ALOT of scams that come out of South Africa. Be careful of people sending money orders or paying through anything but paypal!!!!! Take cash for the transaction.

What is meant by an unlocked phone? Is that where you don't have to enter a code when it turns on? Or is that the security code? So when you want to use the RAZR with GSM in other countries, does that mean the user resets code to none? If unlocking is some other kind of procedure, who does it and what's involved? Returning from abroad should user have lock code put back in?

Unlocking is simply making the phone usable on any gsm network that it is capable of, when you see subsidy code, that means that it is "locked" to a carrier, whether that be t mobile cingular etc, once your phone is unlocked the only way to lock it is using a flex that is already locked as for who does it, anyone can provided you follow the guide in the tutorials section, however if you don't trust yourself enought, Old Fool can do it if you ship it to him
