has anyone found a program/solution for creating 40-tone ringtones out of regular wave-files? (16bit, 8khz mono)

You need ATS-MA3-SMAF or ATS-MA5-SMAF from Yamaha icon_smile.gif
icon_arrow.gif http://smaf-yamaha.com/tools/selecting_tools.html

BTW, MA-3 format (i.e. 40-poly) supports "waves" up to 16 kHz icon_biggrin.gif The only limitation is size of mmf-file which can be "played" by the phone icon_cool.gif

PS. Feel free to visit my page and try some ringtones created by me in different formats icon_arrow.gif http://dr-smaf.nm.ru

There's not much fun in making 16-tone ringtones, when the ones on the phoen sound much better with their full 40-tones

Right! I've played a little with 16-tone ringtones and I'm disappointed, the sound is very low in qaulity icon_cry.gif
Have you found a way to convert to 40-tones ringtones?!

The problem is the vibra.
* When i have the phone ring type set on "melody" i only get the sound and LED - no vibra
* When i have the phone set to melody+vibra i get several seconds of vibra and LED only (no sound) and then i get sounds and LED and no L

That is a phone setting.
It should be set to Melody. If you try the same thing with a midi => mmf conversion, it will work.Your mobile will vibrate on one of the channels of the music.

For all you having trouble with wav=>mmf : don't use PSMPlay
use this tool by yamaha: WSC-MA2-SMAF
the link is on this thread somewhere.

PSMplay will create distorted files. It plays them correctly, but many phones will not.
The YAMAHA tool is great. And very easy: no options icon_smile.gif

Anyone found a way to add vibra to a wave mmf yet ? It's a pitty the phone won't vibrate during the audio. Or is there a way to combine wave and midi ??

Thanks
