I'm a newbie but can't find the explanation for this problem. My GSM phone was stolen so I bought a new unlocked phone with a new Cingular SIM card on Ebay. Can this be activated via customer support or do I have to go into my local provider and buy a "local" sim card?

I assume you lost your SIM with the phone???
The new SIM will work fine through customer service.
